I estimated sharpshooter Sasha Vujacic's value at $3.0 to $3.5 million per season, but the Lakers apparently think he's worth more, so they inked him to a three-year contract worth $15 million. "The Lakers original offer was three years, $12 million, a deal worth $4 million per season. Vujacic and his representatives rejected the offer and instead threatened to accept an offer from a European team." (Read the rest after the jump.)

  • this kids a 3 point maniac....15 million a little steep but this guy can BOMB from long range. i'd def. spend 8 to 10 mill for this freak...then just work some on his D, he's already got the stroke.
  • European teams continue to dominate the headlines. 10 mil a year for Bostchan Nachbar means Sasha could have gone back to Europe, flopped all over the place, and made more $$$ there than in the US.
  • I'd say the Machine is worth about 3.5 a year.. 5 seems too big.. i personally would've let him go to europe and sign joe joe crawford to a rookie contract and see how that works out since they're already deep at that position anyways
  • Sasha's worth it. He has improved so much the last few years. He plays hard and cares about the game. Reminds me of a poor man's Manu on speed, and not just saying that because they're white and foreign. Plus, the Lakers are already over the cap, so if they lost him, they wouldn't be able to sign someone else anyways. Kinda like when Chicago gave Ben Wallace 15 mill a year when everyone knew he wasn't worth it. But all the Bulls rookie contracts were ending and if they didn't sign anyone, they would get nothing.
  • He's definitely worth it.
  • touche hes worth it....Machine just malfunkction for a bit....Hes still young and Europeans never play Defense anyway. Case in Point Dirk, Danilo Gallinari, Mehmet Okur (Turkey in between Asia and Europe)..

Only time will tell if he wants to play defense, and hes really a fun to player watch even he does flop and complain for calls.. But who doesnt and at least he hustles out there on the court....If anyone in the NBA that has been overspent on, these are my 3, Jerome James, Jason Collins and Wally Sczerbiak....Eddie House and Damon Jones as well to make it a top 5....
  • machine is worth it! he is better than many ppl coming off the bench.
  • WOW . MITCH DOESN'T GO FOR ARTEST .. MARION ... LUOL DENG ... OR JOSH SMITH , BUT SIGNS THIS CLOWN LMAO !!!!! WILL STILL GOT COBY KARL AND JOE CRAWFORD ... WELL AT LEAST I KNOW THAT KOBE AND BYNUM WILL BE LAKERS FOR LIFE !!!!!!
  • Sasha can make jumpers, but outside that, nothing much, he seems satisfied with himself too much.
  • I love him beacose he good play basketbal.
  • Lakers should have called his bluff. 15 million dollars for a streaky shooter who plays no defense. Who could forget Ray Allen going around Vujacic to the basket in the NBA Finals. And Allen never drives to the hole.

I am MACHINE

Sasha's flowing locks are staying in LA for the next three years, where he will camp the 3-point line and cry whenever a foul is called. Kobe I open! Machine I open! I am Machine!

Europe Will Never Threaten the NBA

I know the word "never" sounds pretty absolute, but I'm extremely confident that the European game won't threaten the health of the NBA. Sure Brandon Jennings electing to play pro ball in Italy instead of going to college at Arizona was a major turning point, and Josh Childress jumping to a Greek team was [...]
