Many had thought that the Los Angeles Clippers would use their cap space wisely and make an offer for one of the best free agent power forward available in the NBA to replace Elton Brand. The problem is that they got caught in a year when all of the top PF's were all restricted, limiting their chances of getting their first, second, or even their third choice. So the option was to go after a veteran power forward and rent his services for one or two years and go after a new target in a year when their chances of landing the right player are improved. The Clippers first target was New York's Zach Randolph. They made an offer of a second round pick for Randolph but were rebuffed. Randolph's contract was for 3 years at 14 Mil per year, but his numbers were a lofty 18 and 10. They tried again, offering only a second round pick, and picked up 34 year old veteran center Marcus Camby from Denver. The often injured Camby is a career long double double machine. But his s...

Camby Signs with Clippers

After Corey Maggette signed with the Warriors last week, the Clippers had to find?another big man in the post. With this they found one of the best defenders in the game today.....Marcus Camby. He is a great rebounder, as well as shot blocker. This man is a complete workhorse and believe ...

Welcome To Philly Elton Brand

This is old news already, but I would like to welcome Elton Brand to Philadelphia. I was a little worried about Brand coming back from the Achilles injury, but the Sixers obviously were not. Brand is only one of 4 active players who average a double double for their career. The other 3 are Shaquille O'neal, [...]

Nuggets Front Office Drunk Off Their Keisters, Trade Camby for Phantom Menace

Points in the Paint asks if Camby is a Consolation Prize for losing Brand. Sure, Camby is not a 20 and 10 guy, but getting him for the right to switch places in the second round with a team that is not really any worse than you in 2010 only brings up thoughts of conspiracy theory in my head. I mean, are there some hot second round prospects for 2010 that are worth someone who had...

Clippers Trade For Camby, Out Of Running For Iguodala

The Los Angeles Clippers traded for Denver Nuggets' center Marcus Camby Tuesday. In return, Denver receives the option to trade second round picks with Los Angeles in the 2010 NBA draft. Camby is considered one of the premier defensive players in the league, leading the NBA in blocks with 3.61 a game last year. More importantly, this means that the Clippers are no longer in...

Camby Trade Confusing for Clippers

Seemingly lost in the shuffle of Brett Favre's sandy vagina and last night's All Star Game was a trade between the Los Angeles Clippers and Denver Nuggets. Just a few days after being slighted by Elton Brand, the Clippers seemingly picked up a steal in acquiring shot-blocking extraordinare Marcus Camby for a future exchange of [...]

Nuggets trade Marcus Camby for... what?!?!

Let's see, how much is a seven-footer worth? Not much, you say? What if that seven-footer is a still-productive center and a former Defensive Player of the Year? What if he averaged at least 3.0 blocks per game in each of the last four seasons? How about a minimum of 11.6 rebounds per game over the last three? Did I mention his amazingly affordable contract (two years, $15.7...
