Josh Howard got into his first scrimmage of the preseason today, going through about half of the Mavericks' five-on-five workout.

The Mavericks are getting out and running against the Detroit Pistons and it's starting with an active defense.
A couple of intercepted passes led to fast-break layups by Quinton Ross and Jason Terry and the Mavericks are up 35-30 early in the second quarter.
This team is working harder at the defensive end tonight than in the first three exhibitions, it appears.
