Nuggets First 50-Win Team To Be Swept In First round

Here's what went wrong:

1. Bad defensive habits. The Nuggets played defense this year about half the time. Their lack of focus was the reason they were swept in the first round.

2. Melo's lack of maturity. Calling out your teammates after a bad loss and getting a DUI the week before the playoffs are all the proof we need that Melo's immature.

3. Chemistry. The Nuggets chemistry is lacking. Poor team defense, Melo's breakdown, A.I.'s threat to opt out - it all points to the fact this team isn't much on "team."

Here's the best part (sarcasm) - George Karl isn't going anywhere!

4. They aren't very good.

5. One on one basketball doesn't win playoff games.

6. They aren't very good.

7. George Karl is the absolutely wrong coach for the nuggs.

Funny, but I disagree with the assertion that "they aren't very good". While I think they could be better (a lot better), winning 50 games is no small feat. They were better than more than half the league most of the year - just not when it counted.

As for one-on-one basketball not winning games, and Karl being the wrong coach, I agree. Those are both good points. Denver STILL needs consistent shooters (JR Smith and Kleiza are improving, however), perhaps a healthy Chucky Atkins, in concert with Smith and Kleiza, will open up the floor and reduce the amount of one-on-one play.

Here's the Nugget's biggest problem going forward - when Najera leaves, they loose their best defender. It's going to be interesting to see what they do this off-season to address that weakness.

I still like trading Nene and K-Mart for Jermaine O'Neal. It's risky for Denver, but the upside for both teams is huge and the downside for Indiana is paying K-Marts contract (which is no worse than O'Neal's).

Just another case for the Warriors to have been in the playoffs

They wouldn't have done much better...their lack of interior presence would have made it even easier for Gasol and Odom.

Still, I think the GSW would have won at least one game, and maybe two.

Also, the Nuggets weren't the first 50 win team to be swept in the first round - the Lakers swept Portland out of the first round as recently as 2000-2001 playoffs.

The Nuggets "QUIT" just like Carmelo said. The Warriors/Lakers series would have been a lot more exciting, intense, and fun to watch.

Suns, next 50 win team to be swept.

Never mind, forgot they won one.

I want George Karl out!
