Tom Moore is reporting that the Sixers are on the verge of signing ex-Sixer wing man Rodney Carney to the veteran's minimum. This isn't really a surprise. Carney's name was floated around as a possible addition to the wing for the Sixers. There are better players out there who are available but given the Sixers decision to avoid long-term deals and over extended themselves with additional salary. Like the pick up? Dislike it? News From the Front: Rodney Carney Gets Back to Where He Once Belonged

I always liked Rodney Carney. As you may recall, the Memphis swingman spent a couple of seasons with the Sixers rather recetnly, traded from the Bulls on draft night in 2006 for our pick of Thabo Sefolosha, and getting dumped to the Timberwolves in 2009 to make cap space for the Elton Brand signing. I thought Carney got a raw deal then--he was just starting to come into his own as...

The Sixers bring back Rodney Carney

With the Phillies in the thick of a pennant run and the Eagles about set to kickoff, I wouldn't blame you if you forgot we have a professional basketball team here in Philadelphia. To be fair, the Sixers have done little in the last few months to catch our attention and get us excited about the NBA season that begins in less than two months. In fact, pretty much all the Sixers...

The 76ers have agreed to terms with forward Rodney Carney, according to a source familiar with the situation. Carney, a 6-foot-6 forward, has agreed to a one-year deal for the fourth-year minimum of $855,189, giving the Sixers 13 players under contract for the 2009-10 season. Carney, who played collegiately at Memphis, played his first two professional seasons [...] No related posts.

You Didn't Have to Set The Place on Fire...

I'm back from Australia. And yet, I'm sad. Sure, I'm sad because I got to spend 10 incredible days with my sister and her family and was able to bond with my two tiny nieces like I hoped that I would. But that's not what this post is about. I'm also sad about stuff pertaining basketball.More specifically, I'm sad about stuff pertaining to the Minnesota Timberwolves...

Report: Carney to sign with Sixers

It appears unrestricted free agent Rodney Carney is going back to the 76ers. Philadelphia newspaper reports say the Sixers have agreed to terms with Carney, an unrestricted free agent the Sixers traded to the Wolves more than a year ago in that salary-cap bookkeeping deal that allowed them to sign Elton Brand. David Kahn said more than once [...]

Evaluating Darius Songaila in 2008-09

Darius Songaila, the coaches dream and a consummate teammate. I’ve made no secret that he’s been one of my favorite Wizards (if not ‘#1′) over the past couple of seasons … perhaps to the point where I’ll one day purchase a D-Song customized Wiz jersey and appear on Straight Cash Homey.net (although I’m not exactly the [...]

David Kahn Does It Again: The Timberwolves Acquire Antonio Daniels

David Kahn has made Timberwolves fans twitterpated with the upcoming season in Minnesota.  The Wolves may be better, we may not, but for Wolves fans who were sick and tired of McHale spending the offseason fishing up in Hibbing, David Kahn's activity has gotten us excited. According to an ESPN report, the Minnesota Timberwolves have traded PF Darius...

Former Wizards Swapped

So, was the Mike Miller and Randy Foye trade really all about the Minnesota Timberwolves getting Oleksiy Pecherov? Pecherov is the only player remaining from the original trade Minnesota made with Washington two days prior to the NBA draft after the Timberwolves dealt Darius Songaila and Bobby Brown to New Orleans on Wednesday for another former Wizard, Antonio Daniels. Minnesota...
