SLAM has been ranking the NBA's best players all summer.  They're up to 17... which is where we find Paul Pierce.Pierce remains one of the very few players who has stayed with the same team for the last ten plus years. Now, it’s not that this longevity necessarily has some correlation to how good you are. I gave up statistics after high school. And Jeff Foster’s in the group. But it’s a fact definitely worth noting. It shows consistency, reliability, and an investment by the organization in the player and by the player in the organization. It’s no coincidence that two thirds of those players are some of the best of this generation. The Diesel put it best back in 2001. “Paul Pierce is the motherf*cking truth. Quote me on that and ...

Kevin Garnett Looks Damn Good

I hate to make assumptions after the first preseason game, but Kevin Garnett appears to be healthy and well, he looks like the old KG. The intensity and energy only KG can bring to a game was back. He finished with 6 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals in 13 minutes. And most importantly, I didn't see him limp or favor the leg in any way.Rasheed Wallace (6 points, 3 blocks and 1 technical...

Ray admits to being hurt last year

First... we heard that Ray Allen was dealing with a hamstring issue in last year's playoffs.  Then... he said "no.. I wasn't."Now, he's finally admitting to it.“My hamstring was bothering me, but it was something going on in my lower back,” Allen said yesterday. “You get toward the end of the season something is going to be wrong with you, and that’s...

Are You Excited for Celtics vs Rockets?

I think we're all looking forward to watching the Celtics first pre-season game tonight (8:30pm) against the Houston Rockets. Here's what I'll be looking for tonight and throughout the preseason:Kevin Garnett - Can he get through it without limping? Rasheed Wallace -  Does he fit in off the bench? Marquis Daniels - Can he effectively man the point? ...

Celts drop opener, 96-90

The Celtics started off this year's pre-season just like they finished last year's post-season - with a loss. The Ming-less Rockets disposed of the Celtics, 96-90. Unfortunately, with Directv blacking out the exhibition games this year, I wasn't able to see any of the game. Instead, I periodically checked the live gamecast. Yeah - not ideal. I sure am glad that I fork over 12.99...

Kevin Garnett says he’s back!

Despite troubling visual evidence suggesting otherwise, Garnett and the Celtics insist that the big fella’s knee is perfectly healthy: “I don’t have any knee problems. I don’t have any knee problems. I’m not trying to get in depth with my injury and all that but the things are bothering me are secondary and not even [...] Related posts:Slimmer Jefferson ready to keep...

While We’re Waiting… Browns Moral Victories, Kevin Garnett’s Knee, and Goodbye 2009 Tribe

While We’re Waiting serves as the early morning gathering of WFNY-esque information for your viewing pleasure. Have something you think we should see? Send it to our tips email in the sidebar.   Normally I would shred anyone that came up with a moral victory argument following 75 minutes of football that resulted in a loss.  But, [...]
