The Reason Why Basketball is Awesome

Sports commentators start out the game usually introducing facts on the team that wins game one goes on to win the series so many times. but the belief about the game one match up in the 2008 Western Conference quarterfinal's between the phoenix suns and San Antonio spurs definitely doesn't live up to that fact one bit, and this is why.

Game one just proved that this is going to be one hard, long, and rigorous series that is way overrated to be happening in the first round. With the 117 to 115 Spurs victory over the Suns, the interest of playoff basketball on a average fan just jumped from the mere head peek at the score interest level to the full blown eyes not moving from the tv,biting of the nails, nothing can keep you away interest level. And the most awesome reason why basketball is well....awesome. A Game like this embodies the spirit that the sport of basketball can invoke on everybody, whether your an avid fan (like myself) or just someone who just knows that basketball is popular. I know its been said that basketball, along with all other sporting events, can bring people together for one reason and to forget everything else, whether it be negative or positive. The fact is that this game lived up to that, and way beyond it. As for the game itself, i.e. emotions, as a fan i can look at the good and bads of both actions taken by the Suns and Spurs. But i am a big Phoenix fan, and i personally believe that the Suns should have won the game. The statistics show that every major player had a big game, except Shaq, but there were certain events that could have changed the game that didn't involve the people it should have involved. The three pointer that Steve Nash hit in the corner should have came earlier in the game, instead of at the most desperate at times.

But I'll give credit where credit is dude, the Spurs played a well fought game. I thought I'd never see the day where i hear "Tim Duncan for three". Manu Ginobli definitely stepped up when Tony Parker fouled out, so props go to that guy, as much it hurts me to say that as a Phoenix Suns TRUE fan.

All in all, the game was one for the ages. If this game took place in the finals, it would rank up there right with "the greatest game ever played" between the Suns and Celtics where Gar Heard hit the shot that lives in every true suns fans minds. As for my message to both the Suns and Spurs, I can't wait till game two, as well as every other person that watched that game.
