Chauncey Billups, The Best Player w/o Skills
Denver’s head coach George Karl said that Billups is a player that doesn’t have skills. Well maybe he doesn’t mean it after all as the former Finals MVP averaged 30+ points while shooting 80% from three-point land and committing no turnovers in the first 2 games.
I am a long time fan of Billups and I [...]

In Honor Of Dikembe Mutombo Mpolondo Mukamba Jean Jacque Wamutombo
Dikembe Mutombo is calling it a career. And what a career it was. That distinct gravelly voice. The 3200 or so finger-wags after turning away shots. The celebration from the floor after his 8th seed Nuggets stunned the top seed Sonics. And all of his wonderful charity work. A great player, a great character and [...]
Farewell Finger Swagger; Curtains Seem to Close for Deke...
It may not be official. It may not even be completely true, but last night, we may have lost one of the best and maybe even one of the most highly influential players in the NBA. In what seems like to be a career-ending injury, Dikembe Mutombo laid on the ground tonight for several minutes grasping his knee in pain until being carried off on a stretcher.

Dikembe Mutombo: Gravity and Light
I’m devestated for Mutombo that he can’t run around like a young man anymore, making tons of money and wagging fingers in people’s faces for kicks. But I’m also fully aware that he’s better prepared than [...]

Who is the best fighter in the NBA?
Who is the best fighter in the NBA? What’s funny is, so many people think that NBA players are thugs, but it couldn’t be any farther then the truth. Sure every professional sports league has its riff-raff, but for the most part, NBA players are a bunch of nice guys. With the success of MMA and the UFC, I thought it would be an interesting question to answer; who is the toughest...
We Will Miss Not Having Dikembe Mutombo Around Anymore
Early in the Houston Rockets' Game 2 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, backup center Dikembe Mutombo suffered what will most likely be a career-ending injury when his knee bent in a way that knees aren't supposed to.Mutombo's numbers won't get him in the Hall Of Fame. He was magical in his first few seasons, solid in the middle of his 18-year career, and held the...
Mutombo Likely Done...Forever.
After what appeared to be a pretty severe and scary knee injury last night, Dikembe Mutombo is calling his career "over". Definitely a sad sight to see especially for a guy that seemed almost invincible after all of these years.
Afterward in Houston's locker room, the 7-foot-2 veteran was on crutches and fighting back tears.
"Nobody ever thought they...

Rockets Survive Portland Rally
I've seen a game or two like this in this building. I'm trying to figure out if this was different, or just more of the same. If this was a confidence builder for Portland, or just a run-of-the-mill NBA game- you know, where one team grabs a big lead, the other makes a comeback, and the team that was supposed to win, wins. I'm hoping it's the former. In the second...
