Warriors Out! Let the Mourning Begin...

Some of us woke up to the news (East Coasters), and some of us went to bed knowing that the Warriors were officially out of the playoffs. My mind can't help but go back to a few games that the Warriors should have won, but didn't. Wasted opportunities - squandered chances to win? Absolutely. The Warriors definitely had a few occassions where they truly needed to take care of business, but didn't (think Atlanta, Chicago, Minnesota, maybe one game in that 0-5 start). And being 3-5 in April certainly doesn't help.

But the thing that kills me is that I look at the East and 5 TEAMS that have fewer wins than GS are going to make the playoffs. Something about that just ain't right. In any case, I'll miss seeing the excitement that the Warriors bring to the court in this post-season. Hopefully next year things will fare better for them. And despite the sad, sad outcome, it was still a pretty good season.

I'm taking no calls today.

What a heartbreaker....:-(

I know. I couldn't even watch the end of it. I guess I figured if I turned off the television and went to bed, I would wake up to a miracle. We're definitely in need of those margaritas now.

What was up with BD on the bench?

I asked a few of my friends who were watching the game, apparently he had a terrible first half? I don't know, someone told me he went 3-17 shooting...and was in Nellie's doghouse for the rest of the game. Still...such an important game, I don't see the good benching BD for the entire second half.

Then again, I didn't watch the game...so maybe I missed something?

yeah he was like 2 of 13 I think in 17 minutes and was really playing badly. It wasn't just his ineffectiveness though. They were playing so well without him. I think they outscored Phoenix like 38-19 in the 3rd and by clutch time he would've been cold and mistake prone. Hard to lose the season with your MVP on the bench though.

What was Nellie thinking. Baron's got to play. I can't believe a team as good as the Warriors is going to miss the playoffs.

I just checked the box. 2-13 in 17 minutes. Some might say 13 shots in 17 minutes, hmmm. But it looks to me as though he was just pressing. And for some reason, Nellie (in this particular game, at this particular point in the year) decided some of BDs shots weren't good ones. Go figure. We'll probably be hearing some rumors down the pipeline soon. And not good ones.

The Warriors are definitely more exciting than the Rockets and the Mavs, it's unfortunate they didn't make it to the playoffs. They should petition to play in the East.

I am so so so sorry that the Warriors are eliminated.
Even though they're not "my team" (I do really like them though!) I would have loved and was hoping to see them in the Playoffs. They're just too much fun.

I agree, it's not fair that an East team with fewer wins will make the Playoffs....things should definitely be changed. Top 16 teams with the top 16 records...doesn't matter where you are. A +.500 SHOULD make the Playoffs long before an under .500 team does.

I disagree with everyone about this, because if they ever do it this way then what's the point of conferences or divisions for that matter. I don't have a big problem with the current system. It makes division and conference play that much more important. It creates rivalries and if the Hawks win the 'ship then I guess the system works.

Also, I don't know that win-loss record is any more accurate of a team's strength than standings. Some teams will have easier schedules, some teams harder, teams match-up differently.... so a team with a better record could have that record because of being in a really weak conference and division where you get to beat those weak teams up 4 times a year.

The three top teams could be in the same division, but if that top team loses eight games to the teams in their division are they less deserving than the top team in the weakest division that has only five losses?

Yeah I have to disagree as well. The east and west are different conferences- every major sports does it. It is setup fairly and everyone knows who they have to compete with during the season.

I love watching them play, but the Warriors were in big trouble when they (1) couldn't learn to offensive rebound, (2) prevent anyone else from pounding the offensive boards, (3) fell into the, "run down the floor, shoot a jumper" game. They didn't play much defense, and they allowed so many layups and dunks. It was like watching Nellie at Dallas all over again.

As much as I would have liked to see them in the playoffs this team has been gassed for a few weeks.

Thums up, BearsNecessity. I did say "ouch" when I read your comment, but you can't argue with the facts. There are a few things every caoch knows you HAVE to do in order to put your team in a position to win games: 1: Rebound, 2) Block out, and 3) Don't waste possessions. When the Warriors were on, it was fun to watch. But when they weren't, it didn't seem like they had any of the fundamental stuff to fall back on.

BARON TO THE EAST! Just thought I'd throw that in.

Baron better be back next year

this is so depressing...i cant believe were done

pretty sad.....I'm a pheonix fan before i'm a golden state fan but i was pulling for boom and the crew to win.......I honeslty think in the NBA Golden State and there fast pace game makes them America's Team

It sure is fun to watch. I just wish that a low post presence and a nellieball were not mutually exclusive.

To me when they lost to Denver at home, it was signs that they were ''gearing up the fishing gear'' for the Summer. Diddy didn't come through like he should have. It's shame.

I think you're probably right but I tried to push that thought outta my head.
All I know is that I will be severly depressed if Denver looses thier last game.
I don't think I can even watch.

who's up for some golf?

Oh yea denver all day we are going to do something this year

Lol@Bwest you already know.I'm kinda going to miss Den Vs Gs though.

heck yea we are going to step up on defense and make a run are defense is ready to kill im a miss baron vs ai thoe were classic

Glad the Mavs could contribute, especially after last year.

dont hate golden state dallas got yall back

I still can't believe that they are not in position for the playoffs. I must admit I was somewhat unsure whether they would take care of business. Baron did struggle in the first half but I still thought that Nellie would have put him back in the game. Jack and Monta tried to carry the team but it wasn't enough to get them over the hump. I was surprised to see players like Bellini get playing time since we haven't seen much of him during the regular season along with Pietrus and Azibuike. I guess Nellie decided to try a different approach. I think the loss will only make them a better team next season. They held their ground until the end!

Starting the season 0-6 didn't help.

Damn, I actually Like watching the Warriors play- but I was also routing for the Nuggets for A.I... why couldn't they both make it? BOO.. but at least my SIXERS are in wohoo, and if we were in the west... nah doesn't matter, WE ARE IN

I'm UBER bummed about not seeing Stack Jack, Boom Dizzle, and Monta in the playoffs. But maybe having this season come down to the last games again will help them focus at the beginning of the season next year. We cannot repeat that 0-6 start. Just imagine if we went 3-3 for those six games! We would be talking about playing the Lakers and not about next year!

NELLIE IS STUPID HE SHOULD JUST GO LIVE AT A SENIOR CENTER. MAYBE HE SHOULD TRY TO PLAY BASKETBALL, THEN HE"LL NO WHAT THE BENCH IS LIKE

That playoff system has got to be fixed!! Geez!

Everything works the way its suppose to, there is nothing to fix. The playoffs are meant for the best of the west vs the best of the east to meet in the finals.. unfortunately the Warriors will not be the best of the west

I feel totally jipped this year...but it all comes out in the wash - ya know.
They kind of shot themselves in the foot though - it seems like 90% of the star players in the East were traded to the West this year.

It amazes me that only 3 teams in the East have won 50+ games with the remaining 5 that have won fewer games than the Warriors. It seems like the West is more competitive. I guess I'm just disappointed knowing that they didn't repeat their playoff run from last season. It will be interesting to see how they play tonight against the Sonics...since this is their last game of the regular season!
