The last of game of this home stand and the Warriors wouldn’t let the Denver Nuggets bring them down. Down by 10 in the first quarter, the Warriors took a lead at half and didn’t look back. A high scoring affair, Warriors sent out their warriors as Monta Ellis finished with 37 points, Dorell Wright had 23 points and 11 boards, while David Lee finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Ellis carried the team, as he hit crucial shots after crucial shots. The Warriors finished their longest home stand with an 8-6 record and look to go on the road, carrying whatever momentum they gained tonight.
After a high scoring first half, the Warriors up 70-69, the Warriors barely held onto a 13 point lead. The Denver Nuggets were lead by the Los Angeles Laker, New Jersey Nets, New York Knick, still Nugget Carmelo Anthony who finished the frustrating night with 29 points while Nene finished with 17 points. Nene had made all his shot all night except the most important one, missing the fading jumper as time wound down that would have sent the game into overtime. With the game on the line, the ball didn’t even touch Anthony’s hands. Seething with anger, Anthony fumed off the court and threw down his headband.
Great way to finish the game and this stretch for the Warriors. Their perseverance and momentum will be tested as early as tomorrow night, as they go to Phoenix to take on the Suns. This is the second meeting in a week and the Suns have not played since Monday. Hopefully the Warriors will not show their tired legs and at least compete with the Suns. Till then, enjoy the win against a decent Western Conference team and look for another upset tomorrow.
