Professional sports leagues around the World may seriously need to invest into some social networking etiquette classes for their athletes.
New York Knicks forward Amar’e Stoudemire was fined $50,000 dollars Tuesday for using “offensive and derogatory language” language against a fan on Twitter.
After tweeting that he’d just finished an extensive workout, Stoudemire received the following tweet from an individual using the Twitter handle @BFerrelli.
@BFerrelli: @amareisreal: you better come back a lot stronger and quicker to make up for this past season mannnnnn deadasss!!!
Amar’e took exception and responded to @BFerrelli via direct message with the following…
******* you. I don’t have to do any thing ***.”
This is obviously the latest lapse in judgement for Stoudemire off the court. I’m sure we all remember the Knicks star taking out his frustrations on a fire extinguisher after a first round loss to the Miami Heat in the playoffs.

Calm down on those questions of cap space and coaching styles. If Jeremy Lin and the Knicks want Lin back, he'll be back. Now, it sounds like Lin wants to be back. Coach Mike Woodson, who has said he wants the popular point guard to return, told the New York Post on Tuesday that he's pretty certain Lin will be with the Knicks next season. "Absolutely he's going to...
Carmelo Anthony is made of wax now. At the Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in New York, Anthony now joins the likes of Rosa Parks and Ronald Regan in having his likeness memorialized in Wax. There's tons of low-hanging fruit jokes here about defense that I won't mention right now. In some ways I'm even ashamed I referenced the fact that I thought of them right away. I'...
Carmelo Anthony celebrated the unveiling of his own likeness as a wax statue at Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum by performing a joke that will never age. As people walked by the statue or prepared to pose for a picture with the seemingly ‘wax’ ‘Melo, the ‘real’ Carmelo would move and give the fan a scare they won’t soon forget. Sometimes the simplest jokes are simply...
J.R. Smith has declined his $2.4 million option with the New York Knicks, the Newark Star-Ledger reported Tuesday, and that means he can either re-sign with the Knicks for a 20-percent raise or become a free agent. Smith averaged 12.5 points and 3.9 rebounds per games after joining the Knicks this season following a stint in China. Smith has said he would like to stay with...
The New York Nicks' Carmelo Anthony celebrated the unveiling of his wax statue at Madame Tussaud's in New York by having some fun with visitors....
The Knicks plan to match any offer for Jeremy Lin, who will have "early Bird" rights when free agency begins.
Kevin Pritchard will be named general manager, while Donnie Walsh returns as team president.
Carmelo Anthony is training for the Olympic team training camp, which starts July 6 in Las Vegas.
Larry Bird officially resigned as Indiana Pacers' president of basketball operations, returning the baton to Donnie Walsh, who filled the role in the team's glory days over 24 seasons before four seasons with the Knicks. Under Walsh, Kevin Pritchard was promoted to general manager. He replaces David Morway, who resigned Tuesday after 13 seasons with the franchise. "...
The Knicks would hold some form of Bird rights over Jeremy Lin.
