New York Knicks power forward Amar'e Stoudemire, who hasn't played all season as he returns from a surgically repaired left knee, will not play Sunday, but will join the team for next week's road trip.
"We did talk this morning in great detail, but nothing has been defined yet in terms of when he's going to return," Knicks coach Mike Woodson said after Saturday's practice. "It's still kind of like day to day until he's comfortable and ready to go, and he's not there yet."
Woodson said Stoudemire joining the team for their road trip beginning Tuesday against the Los Angeles Lakers is more about the players sticking together for the holidays.
"At this point, right now, we're still trying to hash out when he's ready to play," he said, "and he's not ready yet."
Woodson added: "We've got some practice time coming our way," he said. "January should be a little bit better for us, in terms of being able to getting back to practice because we desperately need it."
Woodson said Stoudemire looked sharp in Thursday's scrimmage with the Knicks' D-League Team.
