LOS ANGELES Metta World Peace may not be worth the 7.7 million he's due in salary next season. Hes certainly not worth the 19 million payout, including luxury taxes, that keeping him on the books in Los Angeles necessitates. It's simple math. Theres no reason for the Lakers not to use their amnesty provision, which wipes the 33-year-old forwards salary off the teams cap concerns despite the fact that the team will still owe World Peace the 7.7 million hes due. The Lakers currently have four players eligible for the amnesty, which they must use this season: Kobe Bryant, Steve Blake, Pau Gasol and World Peace. Although it would make the most sense to use the provision on Bryant and the 30.5 million he's due next season, the Lakers simply will not do so. (It would, however, save them all of their luxury tax bills.) Blake is indispensable with Bryants injury, so he wont be amnestied, and without Dwight Howard, Gasol is a crucial piece. Which leaves World Peace. His is an...

Los Angeles Lakers must do the right thing

As expected, the Los Angeles Lakers roster moves in the aftermath of Dwight Howard choosing to join the Houston Rockets have been pedestrian. As currently constructed, the Lakers simply aren’t capable of outright signing marquee players. Though they aren’t franchise-changing additions, Chris Kaman and reportedly Jordan Farmar, should help stabilize a bench that failed to meet...

Metta World Peace Amnesty From Lakers Lamented by Kobe Bryant, Who Says He Would Have Kept Teammate

Metta World Peace will likely hear from several people who wish he was staying with the Los Angeles Lakers. It must be extra nice that one of them is team star Kobe Bryant. Bryant used his still-shaky Twitter skills Monday night to comment on the reports that World Peace’s contract is going to be the target of the Lakers’ amnesty provision as the team looks to get under the luxury...

Kobe Bryant tweets why he unfollowed Dwight Howard

Kobe Bryant has become a pro at this social media thing. After word began to spread that the Lakers would use the one-time amnesty clause on Metta World Peace, Kobe took to Twitter to share his thoughts.   No game 7 win without Metta! This is a tough day for laker nation #misspeace #newcbacasualty — Kobe Bryant (@kobebryant) July 9, 2013   Personally I’d keep Metta and make...

Now that Kobe and Dwight Howard are no longer teammates, the Mamba took some time to explain why he unfollowed Howard.

Nash: Dwight didn't want to be in LA

Steve Nash opened up about Dwight Howard leaving the Lakers and talked about how the season went among the guys.

When Kobe Bryant Tweets People Listen...or Read...

Kobe Bryant has not been with the Twitter Universe for long, but in the time that he has been tweeting he has grown quite the following (over 3 million). It's understandable too. When you are the best at what you do people are going to what a piece of you even if it is just clinging to your every word on social media. Keith Allison/Flickr That much was proven...

Lakers to amnesty Metta World Peace

Now you can stop wondering if the Lakers will amnesty Kobe Bryant. The team will reportedly use the amnesty clause on Metta World Peace. This move will save the Lakers tax $8.3 million. World Peace wasn’t effective this past season with the Lakers. Which shouldn’t have surprised anyone, considering he had already lost a step in the  ’11-’12 season. World Peace injured his...

What’s Next For The Los Angeles Lakers?

Kobe Bryant is out with a torn Achilles. Dwight Howard left for Houston. Metta World Peace could be amnestied at any minute. It’s safe to say that the Los Angeles Lakers are going through some turmoil right now. For the first time in a long time, the Lakers have fallen out of the NBA’s spotlight. They are an old team with a coach that hasn’t really won anything and an egotistical...

Kobe Speaks on Why He Unfollowed Dwight Howard

What he says make sense, no need to be buddy buddy with someone who isn’t your friend and left to play for your competition. No need to fake it anymore. I wish d12 the best honestly. I just find it hard to follow players that wanna kick my teams ass #thatsjustme — Kobe Bryant (@kobebryant) July 9, 2013

Report: Lamar Odom Gets Interest From Lakers, Could Rejoin Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol

Lamar Odom just isn’t the same if he’s not in a Los Angeles Lakers uniform, and the Lakers also tend to be better with him. So it’s not a complete surprise that both sides could be looking to rekindle their relationship. The Lakers have reached out to Odom, Ramona Shelburne of ESPN reports. While she said it’s hard to know how interested both sides are, the idea is intriguing...

Metta World Peace described being amnestied using his favorite burger joint

Metta World Peace has a very unique way with words. The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to use the amnesty provision to get out from under his contract, and we already know how Kobe Bryant feels about it. It seems like World Peace is equally disappointed — I think? On Wednesday morning, World Peace took [...]

Lakers’ Massive Tax Bill Adds Insult to Injury After Underachieving Season

Congratulations, Los Angeles Lakers. Not only were you not very good last season, but you also paid a whole lot to do it. The Lakers watched Dwight Howard bolt for Houston, cut ties with Metta World Peace (much to Kobe Bryant‘s chagrin) and might still deal permanent trade block resident Pau Gasol this summer. Yet they are still slated to be above the luxury tax level in 2013-14...

If amnestied by the Lakers, Metta World Peace only wants to play for a few select teams

Yesterday, reports surfaced that Lakers forward Metta World Peace would be amnestied. And though the news isn’t quite official, teammate Kobe Bryant went ahead and voiced his displeasure about the move.A day later we’re all at the point that it’s a foregone conclusion that World Peace will be amnestied, so now it’s time to discuss where World Peace could land. As usual Sam...

World Peace unaware Howard was leaving?

Admit it, virtually all basketball fans wish they could have been a fly on the wall when Kobe Bryant learned that Dwight Howard was taking his talents to Houston. Well, we may never know exactly how Bryant reacted to the news, but we may have the next best thing — Metta World Peace getting the word. World Peace was leaving Mastro’s in Beverly Hills, Calif., on Sunday night, when...
