Celtics Green ...a boston celtics blog.:
A Sherrod Blakely has posted tonight's starting lineup on CSNNE.
While the Boston Celtics starting lineup will be in a state of uncertainty throughout this season, C's coach Brad Stevens appears to have settled on a lineup for the first preseason game.
There weren't any surprises with the first group, which is expected to consist of Avery Bradley and Courtney Lee in the backcourt, and Jeff Green, Brandon Bass and Jared Sullinger in the frontcourt.
Though all five were on last season's roster, tonight will be the first time they will be in the starting lineup for the same game.
Last season, the combination of Lee and Bradley were a fearsome defensive combination but after some initial success, Doc didn't play them together very much. I like that they will get a chance to impress their new coach tonight.
Let's Go Celtics!!!!

Brad Stevens has yet to announce what the Boston Celtic's starting lineup will be this season. Not surprisingly, we found out today that there is no right answer. The starters will be shifting based on what Coach Stevens sees on the floor. Here is some of what Stevens had to say after Sunday's practice (courtesy of celtics.com):
“You can look into it as much as you...
Before he coached his first game at TD Garden new Boston Celtics coach Brad Stevens was playfully asked if he noticed the 17 championship banners hanging inside his new gym. Stevens said they "couldn’t be further from my mind right now" while noting that he wasn't hired for what had happened in the past but to try to get the team back to that level.
The Boston Celtics discovered a lot about themselves in the first preseason game against the Toronto Raptors on Monday night.
One thing they discovered is that this team has to work on hitting the glass and pulling down rebounds. Here is a quote from A. Sherrod Blakely's piece on CSNNE:
Upon further review, Celtics coach Brad Stevens came away with the same conclusion he...
In today's Celtics Minute, Brad Stevens once again cautions us not to read too much into his lineups in the preseason. He will be looking for combinations that work and to see what players work well with others. Keith Bogans and Jared Sullinger also share that they aren't too concerned about who plays when or where in the preseason as well. I'm sure they are just excited...

Ever since Avery Bradley arrived in the league, a fresh faced nineteen year old having played one year of college basketball under Rick Barnes at the University of Texas, there has been some sort of ailment or extenuating circumstance that has prohibited him from participating in a complete Celtic training camp. As Jim Fenton from The Enterprise reported:
As a rookie...
Rudy Gay and Tyler Hansbrough both scored 17 points to lead the Toronto Raptors to a 97-89 preseason victory over Boston on Monday night in Celtics' coach Brad Stevens' NBA debut.
DeMar DeRozan had 13 points, and Terrence Ross added 12 for the Raptors.
Gerald Wallace led the Celtics with 16 points, and Jared Sullinger had 14 with six rebounds.
The 36-year-old Stevens was...
Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge began training camp last week believing he had just hired the best coach in college basketball to lead his team for the next six years.
But even a process-driven guy like Brad Stevens isn’t going to turn a week of drills into basketball artistry.
“Camp is camp” Ainge said yesterday when asked about his initial impressions...
AB was aggressive at the defensive end with 3 steals, and despite his 5-16 shooting, he was aggressive on the offensive side of the ball as well.
Sullinger scored 14 points off the bench in 20 minutes of work. He also had 6 rebounds.

I was only able to catch the last few minutes of the first preseason game against the Raptors, but from what I did see, the Celtics have a great deal of work ahead of them. Just plain weird is all I could come up with to describe the New Look Celtics so far.
Here are more thoughts about the first game from the Twitterverse...

I’m not sure just why I am so excited to see the
developments of this training camp. On
the surface it would seem that the roster is set (14 guaranteed contracts and I
don’t expect any trades until Jan/Feb), the rotation will be in flux for much
of (if not the entire) season, and the position battles will be developmental
and jumbled rather than adversarial and determinate...
First of all, I had to wrestle with popups and installing all kinds of things to try to get a stream last night. I finally did find one where the game was archived and was able to watch the whole thing. In spite of the loss, I saw some good things and very much enjoyed watching the game. We have to remember that the Raptors, for the most part, played together last year and they...
