Looks like the Andrew Bynum era in Philly has officially come to an end before it ever began. The Sixers have announced that Bynum will have surgery in BOTH KNEES tomorrow and is done for the season. Bynum is on the final year of a deal that paid him $16 million this season. His surgery means he will enter free agency with his last basketball action happening when the Lakers were bounced out of the playoff last season.
So the obvious question, what does the Sixers organization do? Let him walk and utilize that cap space on someone else? Is Bynum willing to take a one year deal? Would a team be crazy enough to offer him more than that?
Guess we’ll see this summer. For the record, I was told by someone connected to the Sixers that Andrew never wanted to play for Doug Collins. Guess now he and his paper maché knees won’t have to.
