Howard Smith-USA TODAY Sports   Following the Philadelphia 76ers’ embarrassing 111-99 loss to the New Orleans Hornets at home on Wednesday night, the team that inhabits the Wells Fargo Center sank even lower this season. The Sixers’ (16-23) loss to the Hornets (12-26) was Doug Collins’ team’s sixth loss in their last seven games. Their only win in that stretch came at home against the Houston Rockets who were competing in the second night of back-to-back road games and their third game in four nights. In that Sixers victory, they still yielded 100 points to the Rockets. The month of January has truly been a disaster for the Sixers, who are giving up 103.3 points per game in their 8 games to start off the New Year. Last season, when the going got rough for this ball club, they still were at least able to defend opponents. Right now, the Sixers look physically and mentally tired, and they’ve hardly been able to compete throughout the entire course of a game. Now, for this team and its fans, looking forward to the February 15 All-Star break is the really only positive thought that revolves around the organization. With that faithful weekend in February, point guard Jrue Holiday will likely be making his first All-Star game appearance and Andrew Bynum will be returning to the court in a matter of days. On Monday, the 7-1 franchise center looked great shooting around with assistant coaches Michael Curry and Brian James. He also told reporters that he expects to be back playing somewhere around the All-Star break. After the light workout, Bynum told reporters, “I’m not back. But I’m headed in that direction. It’s all positive.” So, as even a string of supposedly winnable home games hasn’t been enough to spark some positive energy and infuse some wins into this Sixers team, at least the All-Star break being under a month away can be something positive for members of the organization and fans alike.     Jake Fischer is a Sixers contributor for Buzz On Broad.
