Johnson: Kyrie Irving’s Confidence Has Grown Throughout Year

[Kyrie Irving] is a nice, young player. I obviously didn’t get to see a lot of him in college, but he’s a nice, young player. He’s shooting the ball really well; in our first game [against the Cavs], we went under his screens and he made us pay by hitting a few threes. He’ll turn the ball over, but point guards – young or veterans – all turn the ball over. He gets in...

James says Irving shows flashes of CP3

MIAMI Dont call Kyrie Irving another LeBron James just because hes also a No. 1 pick of the Cleveland Cavaliers. But if you want to call him another Chris Paul, that might be OK. In fact, James said he sees plenty of similarities between the Cavaliers rookie point guard and Paul, the Los Angeles Clippers' star point. He reminds me of CP early in his days, as well," said...

Wade remains listed as day-to-day and will travel with the Heat to Detroit for their game there Wednesday. The Cleveland...

LeBron James says Kyrie Irving reminds him of Chris Paul

Kyrie Irving has been impressive this season. Sure, he was the No. 1 overall pick for the Cavaliers, so you had a feeling he wasn’t going to suck, but after he spent most of his one year at Duke injured we weren’t totally sure what to expect. He’s not the explosive athlete that Derrick Rose…

Box Score: Cavaliers 85, Heat 92

The Cavaliers got a nice off their bench as Samardo Samuels (15), Ramon Sessions (10), Daniel Gibson (8), and Alonzo Gee (7) combined for 40 points, but Chris Bosh was just too much in the 4th quarter stretch for the Cavaliers to handle as they fell on the road to the Heat. The Cavaliers still deserve a lot of credit for coming out and playing great defense and giving good effort...

LeBron Continues To Mentor Cavaliers Rookies

Cavaliers lottery pick Tristan Thompson says LeBron is like a "brother" to him.

Irving: Varejao’s Toughness is Contageous

[Anderson Varejao] brings a toughness here and it’s contagious. It was contagious throughout the entire game, even through our bench. The bench is just as important as the starters, so it feels good to win. [...] I wasn’t really focused on my offense. I just wanted to help out my teammates. I only attempted six shots tonight and I have no problem doing that. I get my teammates...

Kyrie Irving Reminds LeBron James of a Younger Chris Paul

Kyrie Irving has been impressive during his rookie season, so much so that LeBron James paid him the ultimate compliment by comparing him to Chris Paul. From Fox Sports: “Don’t call Kyrie Irving another LeBron James just because he’s also a No. 1 pick of the Cleveland Cavaliers. But if you want to call him another Chris Paul, that might be OK. In fact, James said he sees plenty...

Miami Heat 92, Cleveland Cavaliers 85

The Cavaliers came to play last night as they shot 50% from the floor, but it wasn’t enough to beat the Heat in Miami.  Kyrie Irving (17 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists) and Samardo Samuels (15 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot in 22 minutes) led the way for the Heat in this game.  Anderson Varejao (11 points, 11 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 blocked shot...

Golden State Warriors 105, Cleveland Cavaliers 95

The Cavs outrebounded the Warriors 54-43 last Tuesday Night, but it wasn’t enough to win as the Warriors outscored them 24-16 in the 4th quarter.  Antawn Jamison (19 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 blocked shot) and Kyrie Irving (18 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot) led the way for the Cavs in this game.  Semih Erden had his best game ever with the...

Video: Alonzo Gee’s Baseline Dunk on Udonis Haslem

Deemed the “Dunk of the Night” by NBA.com, Cavaliers swingman Alonzo Gee provides Miami Heat power forward Udonis Haslem with some punishment for being late with his help defense.  It could be argued that his dunk earlier in the game was even more highlight worthy. Also could be argued that Gee would have attempted the three-pointer from the corner just one season ago.
