Atlanta Hawks: Trae Young, Dejounte Murray Get Brutally Honest on Relationship Amid Intensifying Trade Rumors
David Banks-USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Hawks got served up a massive curve ball after they ended up winning the NBA Draft Lottery. Despite having just a 3% chance to do so, the Hawks somehow came up with a miracle to bag the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming draft.

Nobody probably saw this coming, and this massive development will have a significant impact on Atlanta’s offseason plans. Naturally, all the buzz will center around their two stars, Trae Young and Dejounte Murray.

Atlanta Hawks News: Trae  Young, Dejounte Murray Open Up About Relationship

There has been a lot of talk about the Hawks potentially breaking up their core after another lackluster campaign. The fact that they now have the first overall pick could prove to be the factor that pushes the front office over the edge.

It’s no secret that Young and Murray haven’t exactly proven to be a perfect partnership, and this has to be a major consideration for the organization as well. If you ask Young, however, he is adamant that whatever happens, his relationship with Murray will remain pure:

“Relationships can always be better if your team’s winning and things like that. Juices are flowing,” Young said on a recent episode of his podcast. “But I think certain relationships that you have are just deeper than basketball He’s one of those guys that’s forever deeper than that.”

‘Keep the Outside Noise the Outside Noise’

Both stars are well aware of all the trade chatter around them. However, it doesn’t bother Murray one bit. This is because the All-Star guard knows where he’s at in terms of his relationship with his backcourt partner:

“When I see all the BS, ‘Trade this guy’ or ‘Trade that guy,’ It means nothing,” Murray said. “… We great, we communicate. It’s authentic. When you keep the outside noise outside noise, it doesn’t bother you. So it don’t bother me at all.”

Be that as it may, Murray concluded by hinting at a potential break-up. According to the 6-foot-5 combo guard, anything can happen:

“You never know. We may stay together, we may go elsewhere. You just don’t know. It’s out of our control,” Murray said.
