Women in bikinis add interest to anything. It looks like some pioneers are looking to build on that concept by starting up a bikini basketball league.

According to BikiniBasketball.com, the Bikini Basketball Association is coming soon.

Here's a brief snapshot of what we're looking at, via the website, which appears to be very much under construction -- perhaps like the league itself.

"The league is for Sexy Athletic Ladies from around the world. We have several teams already -- Atlanta Fleet Angels, Miami Spice, New York Knockouts, Hollywood Hotties, Orlando Lady Cats, L.A. Ice and Chicago Desire."

We're not sure about you guys, but the Miami Spice have the name of a champion who's destined to follow in the footsteps of the NBA team across town. In any event, though, we're looking at some tantalizing names.

The Bikini Basketball League or Bikini Basketball Association -- it's a bit unclear due to a discrepancy between the aforementioned website and the league's Twitter account -- is obviously looking to mimic the success of the Lingerie Football League, which appears to have actually done fairly well for itself. Then again, that assumption isn't based on any quantifiable evidence, but rather the eyeball test.

The league's Twitter account is already picking up steam, approaching the 10,000-follower mark as of Friday morning. That number will likely climb as more and more web-surfing males become aware of what's in the works.

According to the Miami New Times, the Spice are working hard to field a contender, with basketball skills also being a necessity.

"This is a competitive basketball league, so we are definitely looking for girls that can really play. It is also a bikini league in which the girls will be playing basketball in bikinis, so looking good in a bikini is a must," Miami Spice reps reportedly said, adding that "personality, the ability to work with a team, competitiveness, people skills, endurance, drive, and dependability" are also desired qualities.

For those looking to take things a step further and get involved, you're in luck. The website also offers up this tidbit of information.

"If you are interested in being involved (Players, Owners, Coaches, Sponsors, Photographers, Editors,) Contact us on Twitter or by Email support@bikinibasketball.com."

See you all there.

  • and people would want to see a bunch of fat smelly wh*res running around why?
  • Wow, people sure do misuse capitalism and freedom to such a perverted and immoral degree. They think just because they are not raping people or molesting children, or beating someone up , that it's ok to just show off your half naked body in a sport simply because you are greedy and feministic? I mean you wonder why the world has so many problems and dysfunctionalism in relationships and marriage? You wonder why people act the way they do and turn to homosexuality, perversion and violence? Wow nothing surprises me anymore..bikini basketball, just another exploitation which makes money and brainwashes kids growing up to think this is acceptable and normal, when it is clearly not. And it is very degrading to women no matter what, just like the porn industry is.
  • They don't have to be playboy bunnies mind you, but please, no 6'8" - 365 lb'ers either. Athletic is one requirement. Just don't want part freshman high school squad and part Globe Trotters. I want real, strap'em down, ladies basketball. I wish them the very best of luck and many years of operations.
  • This is a disgrace to the WNBA, and all women in it who are trying to follow their dreams without objectifying themselves. I pity any women who wants to join this league instead of displaying their talents in the WNBA. I would be extremely upset and disgusted if I was Lauren Jackson, Tamika Catchings, or Diana Taursi. Why don't we have the men play basketball in thongs while we're at it?
  • Why to undo years of fighting for equality.
  • I meant way to undo
  • It will prove to be a waste of TELEVISED air time!
  • This league will eclipse the WNBA in a few years. You will actually have people (men) in the stands. Nobody wants to watch junior high quality basketball played by women dressed like men.
  • Is this what for real? Will they treat it like regular sports with scores and highlight footage?
  • I hope they don't go down the same road and the lingerie football league and make all of the games PPV. With bikinis, there is a good chance of a wardrobe malfunction, and I for one, don't wanna miss that. LOL.
  • Funny about some comments..... Fact of the matter is if u dont like it dont watch it. Does not take a college education to figure it out..... LOL
