Celtics (13-4) vs. Pacers (9-12) Friday, November 23 Boston Garden Just a month after the Celtics dropped their first game of the season in Indiana to the Pacers, Boston looked for a little retribution on their home floor. The Pacers were struggling coming into the Garden, having lost three of the last four.  The Celtics smelled blood against Slick Leonard’s bunch and allowed Red Auerbach to enjoy his victory cigar as Larry Bird dropped 30 points for the first time in his NBA career in a 118-103 victory over the Pacers. The two games against the Pacers really highlighted Bird’s progress.  In the first affair on October 20, Bird shot a respectable 8-for-12, finished with 20/2/4, and though he still managed four steals, he fouled out in only 22 minutes of play.  The November 23 game fared much differently.  Bird played 37 minutes and became the featured man on the offensive attack (he attempted 29 shots, while the rest of the starting five put up a combined 35).  Still plagued by tur...

Kenyan orphans reenact Celtics '87 playoffs game

Here's a nice video to warm your heart this holiday weekend. EK just shared it with me and I thought you all would like it. While I can't personally vouch for the charity (Just saw the video and haven't done any research, but appears pretty legit to me) I feel I should share their story that they attached to the video: https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/bNnE3 More then...

Jason Terry Glides in Reebok Answer 4′s

Jason Terry wore a pair of retro Rebook Iverson Answer IV’s last night in the Celtics win over the Thunder. The Answer IV is the same model AI wore while stepping over Celtic’s coach Tyronn Lue in the 2001 playoffs. Terry has been doing a lot to bring “Reebok Back” in Boston. This colorway of the Answer IV release a few months back and sold out quickly. You can still...

(Video): Rajon Rondo full highlights vs. San Antonio Spurs

While you are digesting your Thanksgiving turkey, enjoy some of the bright spots of the game yesterday. Rajon Rondo dropped 22 points and 15 assists and almost brought the Celtics back, as the Celtics lost 112-102. 22 Points: 15 assists Follow Jun Pang on Twitter @CjEuLnTICS

Jason Terry's big shot motivation

Last night Jason Terry hit a buzzer beating three pointer to give the C's a 48-45 lead at halftime.  With 3:27 to go in the 4th he nailed a big jumper to help fend off OKC's rally, and keep the Boston lead in double digits.  At the 2:28 mark he knocked another 3 that would have extended the Celtics lead to 10, but it was waived off because of a foul away from the ball....

Celtics Locker Room Video: Jeff Greens Says Beating His Old Team Means “Nothing”

After having his best night of the season and helping the Celtics beat the Thunder 108-100, Jeff Green said he was not motivated by the fact that he used to play for the Thunder. Jason Terry was another Celtic who had a big night, scoring 16 points wich included a huge three-pointer with 36 seconds [...]

Rondo The Silent Killer: YOUR 2012-2013 NBA MVP

I just got back from an 8-hour drive this Saturday with only one thing on my mind…except for a couple X-rated things. I just wanted to sit on my couch, watch the Celtics play the not so exciting Raptors. Why would I be so enthralled over one lousy regular season game? The answer has two words. RAJON RONDOOOOOOO.  Man, I haven’t been so excited over a player on the Celtics since...

Paul Pierce and KG - 1995 All American

Just thought I'd share a bit of nostalgia. Above is the 1995 All American High School Slam Dunk Contest featuring Paul Pierce, Kris Clack and Vince Carter. Carter eventually won but The Captain had some impressive dunks as well and made it to the Finals. After the Jump you'll see some of the highlights from the 1995 McDonalds All American game.  This was one of the...

Recap: Celtics salvage season with huge victory over Thunder

So I may have reached a bit with my headline, but I needed that win. Fueled by Paul Pierce and Jeff Green, the Celtics beat the Oklahoma City Thunder, 108-100. While Pierce and Green deserve credit for strong individual performances, this truly was a team effort. The Celtics had 8 offensive rebounds. The bench cranked out 35 points. The defense came alive (in the 2nd and 3rd quarters...

Your Morning Dump… Where I’m thankful there’s room for improvement defensively

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Based on Synergy Sports numbers, which are tracked on a standardized per-play basis, the Celtics rank 26th in overall defense (0.947 points per play), 30th in transition defense (1.459 ppp), and 16th in half-court...

Top Five Reasons Why Marcin Gortat to the Boston Celtics Makes No Sense

Follow Mike Macchi on Twitter The answer quite simply is NO! This is by no means a knock on Gortat and his game. Gortat is a very good complimentary player who has played very well in the role he has been asked to play in over the years, first with the Magic and now with [...]

Michael Finley Wants to Be Like Mike and Return to the NBA

If Michael Jordan can do it, why can't Michael Finley?  There are far too many reasons for me to name here.  However, that doesn't keep Finley from wanting to make a comeback.  The former Dallas Mavericks forward has been working with Mark Cuban in the team's front office, but he's been staying in shape and wants to play again. According to Marc Stein of ESPN...

Lakers Interested In Mickael Pietrus

Mickael Pietrus remains a free agent, but is receiving interest from a number of teams.

Finley, Dixon and McDyess all preparing for NBA comebacks

Last week it was Juan Dixon. Now Michael Finley wants to call it a comeback. Apparently age is nothing but a number to guys like Dixon (34 years old) and Finley (39 years old) as they still feel like they have something to offer to NBA teams around the league besides a chance to increase a teams’ average age. ESPN.com’s Marc Stein is reporting Finley -- the former...

Thunder-Celtics Preview

The Boston Celtics are unhappy with their defense, and now will try to slow down the league's reigning scoring champ. Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder will be in search of a fourth straight win Friday night when they visit the Celtics. Boston (6-6) led the NBA in defensive field-goal percentage last season at 41.9, but that type of defense is a distant memory now...
