When it comes to injuries, you’d rather not be making headlines at all, but when talking about the Portland Trail Blazers, finally getting some good news on the injury front is a big deal. Oregonlive.com is reporting that Marcus Camby’s knee that he tweaked during a morning shootaround may not be as bad as they originally feared.

“The magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) test performed on [Camby's] left knee Thursday revealed that there is no new damage and the Blazers' starting center is officially listed as day-to-day with a sore left knee.”

This was a very scary moment for the Blazers since Camby had surgery on the same knee almost a year ago to repair a tear in the meniscus. He is 37 years old and you have to wonder if he could even come back from a serious injury at this point.

Being able to keep Camby in the lineup for now will be a huge help to a team already depleted down low. The Blazers still don’t know when they can expect Greg Oden to play, and even when he does, how effective he’ll be or how long he can stay healthy. LaMarcus Aldridge is still going to be a little tentative coming off heart surgery. The team could be starting the year with a very small lineup.

The Blazers have been torn about by injuries for so long. Never has the phrase “if they can stay healthy…” been used so many times. This is a team just waiting to reach their potential, but it seems like they can never get there because their always missing too many people, or someone is playing at less than 100 percent. With Brandon Roy now gone, some people wonder if the Blazers may have missed their window altogether. Only time, and the team doctors, will tell.
