I never like to see a player get hurt. However, in this case at least the result of the injury is righting a serious injustice. Atlanta’s Joe Johnson was ruled out for the NBA All Star game in Orlando due to minor injury. According to Celtics announcer Sean Grande via twitter, the NBA selected Boston’s Rajon Rondo to replace him on the East squad. Rondo has been the best Celtic this season and deserved the nod. His snub was a serious injustice that has now been fixed. Paul Pierce is one of my all time favorite Celtics and he had a solid month that helped lead Boston to an impressive winning streak, but that was only a ten game stretch. Rondo has led this offense the entire season. His numbers clearly show this fact. Rondo is averaging 14.8 points a game, 9.5 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game. These numbers are all the more impressive when one considers all the injuries Boston has had. The team is in disarray, but they would be lost in the abyss without the play of Rondo...

Rajon Rondo says Kendrick Perkins will be traded to Boston

Rondo, totally sick of media, deadpans: "I don't want to start any trade rumors but Kendrick Perkins is getting traded back to the Celtics."— Ben Golliver (@blazersedge) February 24, 2012 So.. this is kind of out of left field. Who knows how much credence there is to this, knowing Rondo he was probably kidding. The Perk trade certainly has not gone away as a...

Rondo Replaces Curry in Skills Challenge

It looks like Celtics fans have something to look forward to on All Star Saturday after all. Last year we had Ray and Paul shooting it out in the 3 point contest. This year it didn't appear that there would be any Celtics entrants in the Saturday festivities. But today, Rajon Rondo was named to replace Stephen Curry in the Skills Challenge. In case you have forgotten...

Happy Birthday Rajon Rondo

Today is Rajon Rondo's 26th birthday.  I'm declaring a moratorium on the BS surrounding this kid for a day.   Just as a matter of perspective:  When Paul Pierce was 26, he was starting a season in which he'd shoot 40.2% (29.9% from 3).  The kid is young, and there is room and time for him to improve.

Celtics' Rajon Rondo suspended two games for throwing ball at an official

With video: Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo has been suspended two games without pay by the NBA for throwing a ball at an official during a game.

Report: Rajon Rondo to Replace Joe Johnson for NBA All-Star Game

Rajon Rondo hasn't been having the greatest week of his career, but the Celtics point guard should be happy to hear that he is now the newest member of the Eastern Conference All-Star team. Rondo has been pegged to replace Atlanta Hawks shooting guard Joe Johnson in the upcoming all-star game in Orlando, according to various reports. Johnson will miss the game due to tendinitis...

Don't expect Danny Ainge to blow the Celtics up at the trade deadline

With the Boston Celtics losing six of their last seven games and falling back under .500 comes the inevitable call from anyone with an opinion to get rid of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Rajon Rondo, the team trainer and the head of the public relations department. The "blow the team up" rallies, which disappeared when the Celtics were on their...

Celtics' Rondo replaces Hawks' Johnson in ASG

Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo will take Joe Johnson's spot on the Eastern Conference roster at this year's All-Star Game after being named an injury replacement Tuesday by NBA commissioner David Stern.

Celtics Weekly Update: February 24

Unfortunately it's more bad news for the Celtics, as they could not pick up a win this week. They have now lost five in a row and seven out of their last eight. They head into the all-star break sitting in eigth place in the Eastern Conference. They have been dealing with injuries lately and Rajon Rondo had a two game suspension to add insult to injury. Kevin Garnett came...

Avery Bradley slams on Kevin Durant

With Rajon Rondo serving the second game of his two game suspension Wednesday night, the Celtics' Avery Bradley got the start against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The 6'2 point guard also delivered one of the C's lone highlights when he took it coast-to-coast and threw down a power slam on the 6'9 Kevin Durant. I'm sure the Celts brass loves seeing Bradley step...

They’re outsiders lately

DALLAS - Pistons guard Rodney Stuckey went to the free throw line Sunday night 15 times and scored 12 of his 16 points there. The Celtics attempted 15 free throws, and perhaps that was the source of some of Rajon Rondo’s frustration as he was ejected in the third quarter.

Rondo the right call to replace Johnson in All-Star Game?

Rajon Rondo was tabbed as a replacement in the All-Star Game for Hawks' guard Joe Johnson. But is the Celtics' point guard the best guy for the job? Zach Lowe isn't so sure anymore.
