Found February 23, 2013 on Waiting For Next Year:
Goodness gracious, Cavs fans, this was a fun one. The good guys outscored the Magic 67-43 in the second half en route to a dominant victory Saturday night in Orlando, the team’s second largest win in the post-LeBron era (27 points vs. Bobcats on Feb. 6). The tremendous road win also represents a complete turnaround for these two teams this season — the Magic started 12-13, but are just 3-29 since. That’s ironically the exact same streak that the Thunder had to start the season in Kevin Durant’s second year. Also notable: The Cavs bench scored 59 points.  Led by efficient scoring performances from Speights, Ellington and Miles, this shows the potential of this more complete Cleveland team. And boy, was this fun. The Cavs are now 13-14 in their last 27 games.   CLEVELAND CAVALIERS – 18-37 (Won last 2) ORLANDO MAGIC – 15-41 (Lost last 5) Team 1 2 3 4 Total CLE 26 25 28 39 118 ORL 25 26 21 22 94   Cleveland Starters Pos Min FG 3Pt FT +/- Off Reb Ast TO Stl BS BA PF Pts Kyrie Irving G 29:36 4-9 0-1 4-4 +3 0 3 9 1 1 0 0 2 12 Dion Waiters G 26:02 5-16 1-3 1-2 +22 2 4 4 0 1 0 3 3 12 Tyler Zeller C 25:15 7-12 0-0 2-2 +21 6 7 1 0 1 1 0 2 16 Tristan Thompson F 24:26 1-5 0-0 0-2 +15 5 11 3 2 0 1 0 0 2 Alonzo Gee F 24:16 6-9 1-3 4-4 +9 1 1 0 1 1 0 1 3 17 Bench Min FG 3Pt FT +/- Off Reb Ast TO Stl BS BA PF Pts Totals 43-87 9-21 23-28 18 47 28 10 8 4 7 20 118 Percentages .494 .429 .821 Team Rebounds: 8 Marreese Speights 22:45 4-8 0-1 10-12 +3 2 8 1 0 1 1 1 2 18 Wayne Ellington 22:18 6-10 3-6 0-0 +21 0 4 1 0 0 0 0 1 15 Shaun Livingston 21:58 2-3 0-0 0-0 +2 1 2 6 2 1 0 0 4 4 C.J. NBA Rumor: Injured Omri Casspi wants buyout from Cavaliers

More news on the Omri Casspi front broke yesterday afternoon. Officially, from the Cavaliers, it was announced that the seldom-used forward from Israel would be checked into a hospital from Orlando and miss Saturday night’s game against the Magic. Here was the release from the team: “Cavaliers forward Omri Casspi was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center this afternoon for...

Chris Grant and the Cavaliers sit this trade deadline out

“Despite no trade today, Cavs will end season w/better roster and MOAR PICKS than when year started. Not too shabby.” -@WFNYBen A month ago the Cavaliers traded Jon Leuer to the Memphis Grizzlies for Marreese Speights, guards Wayne Ellington and Josh Selby, and a future first-round draft pick. That was this year’s big move. The Cavs provided Memphis a place to shed a little...

Beno Udrih and Tobias Harris make strong debuts for woeful Orlando Magic

Beno Udrih and Tobias Harris both showed deep-league appeal in their Orlando Magic debuts. Jameer Nelson sat out a second straight game with a left patella contusion. That opened up minutes for Udrih immediately. The ex-Bucks point guard played 27 minutes off the bench, scoring 10 points and dishing seven assists to go with three boards and two steals. He's a nice option...

Cavs take progressing show on road

Someday, the Cavaliers will make these road swings and well feel good about them. Someday, it will be about more than taking positive steps. But right now, the Cavs three-game jaunt to Orlando, Miami and Chicago (respectively) is about more learning. And, hey, nothing wrong with that. If theres one thing All-Star weekend reaffirmed, its that Kyrie Irving, Tristan Thompson and...

Cavaliers deal Magic 5th straight loss

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Kyrie Irving has proven multiple times this season that he can be an unrelenting scorer when he needs to be. Against the Magic, the Cleveland Cavaliers' young point guard showed he can also do some damage when he's creating opportunities for his teammates. Marreese Speights scored 18 points, Alonzo Gee added 17 and the Cavaliers used a big fourth quarter...

Waiting on Al Harrington

It has become a mini drama each game -- waiting to see if Al Harrington will make his Magic debut. When Orlando acquired Harrington in the Dwight Howard deal, it was expected he would provide some veteran leadership and a stretch-4 that would enable the Magic to go small occassionally. Yes, the Magic knew they would have to wait after an infection following surgery prevented...

J.J. Redick says good-bye to Orlando

The reality is still setting in that J.J. Redick is no longer a member of the Orlando Magic. He was with the team in Dallas yesterday and returned home after the announcement of the deal before heading off to Milwaukee this morning. It was an emotional day for both Magic fans and for Redick. In two interviews -- with Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel and David Baumann...

A lot to take in

There were some new faces in Magic uniforms Saturday. They barely had time to learn basic plays in a walk through. Figuring out where these new pieces fit in the course of the season and on the fly -- let alone on the fourth game in five nights and a night after a seven-player performance -- is difficult in itself. Saturday was going to be a difficult game any way you cut it...

Shorthanded, still dangerous

Even though Orlando has now lost 27 of its past 30 games, this is not a team that is rolling over any time soon. This is not a team opponents can simply waltz in and defeat. Some nights there might be nights of frustration where the score gets out of hand and the shots feel forced with the basket too tiny for the basketball. Friday night very easily could have been one of those...
