Brett Brown has emerged as the favorite to become the next head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers.
David Vanterpool, Michael Curry and Jay Larranaga are also considered viable candidates.
Josh Harris is expected to interview the finalists before the 76ers make a decision.
Brown also was reported as the likely replacement for Doug Collins on the night of the draft.
Brown is currently an assistant with the San Antonio Spurs.
BEST OF MAXIM
Even though former San Antonio Spurs player Stephen Jackson is currently without a team, he has been working out to stay in shape for the upcoming NBA season. Jackson is confident that he will be playing this coming season and in a recent Instagram video, he has declared that he has gotten his love for the game back. Jackson’s departure from the Spurs this past season was...
It sometimes takes rumors like these, to even remember that the 76ers even have a coaching vacancies.
New 76ers GM Sam Hinkie has made it known since he arrived here in Philadelphia, that he was in no hurry to name a head coach.
Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer is reporting that Spurs assistant coach Brett Brown is the guy the 76ers would prefer to hire.
Slow and steady.
That has been the Philadelphia 76ers approach to everything-basketball since Sam Hinkie took over as new team president and general manager and it doesn’t appear that turtle-like strategy will change anytime soon.
Back in May after coming over from the Houston Rockets, Hinkie said he was, “just trying to use information to make decisions”, when it came...
San Antonio Spurs: Best and Worst Off-Season Moves
By Anthony Groves: Hoopstuff Writer…
Best: Signing Marco Belinelli
This is one of the most underrated moves of this off-season. Last season, he shot 39%, in an offense that struggled without their floor general, but he did shoot 36% from three, so he helped their floor spacing. Belinelli’s playing style is perfect for the Spurs’...
I swear the 76ers are going to hire a coach. It feels like we’re all waiting for Godot but in this case somebody will show up. (If I just spoiled Beckett’s play for you… it’s 60 years old I’m not calling out “spoiler alert” on that.)
And the person that could show up in Philadelphia may be Brett Brown the Spurs assistant.
San Antonio Spurs' Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker are very, very good at winning basketball games. They are not particularly good at acting, though it may be because San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich doesn't spend sufficient time addressing this very important subject.
So what do these H-E-B commercials need? A deadpan small forward whose smiled...
Not to take anything away from Project Spurs' very own Jesse Blanchard. Trust me, he is one great artist but this drawing of San Antonio Spurs' Tiago Splitter ranks right up there in the "coolness" spectrum.
Check out this drawing of Splitter in a mixed Spurs-Team Brazil jersey. Though with no pupils in his eyes, he does look a bit spooky and souless.
The San Antonio Spurs signed Jeff Pendergraph, a scantly utilized 6-foot-9 power forward, at the behest of former Indiana Pacers assistant Jim Boylen. Pendergraph will net $3.58 million over the next two seasons, despite appearing in just 96 games through four seasons. (A torn right ACL undercut his entire 2010-11 season.)
Boylen worked closely with the bruising 26-year...
The month of August is typically a slow one for the NBA. Teams are evaluating post Summer League
prospects while making deals for the best of the rest that still remain on the
Free Agent wire. It’s a time when coaches start formulating their plans and
goals for the upcoming season, and have possibly even started articulating this
to their respective teams. Simple
With one vacant spot remaining on the San Antonio Spurs' current roster, there are already many rumored candidates for the position such as Greg Oden, Deshaun Thomas, Antawn Jamison, and Mo Williams.
You can now add guard Bobby Brown to the rumored list as well as Marc Berman of the New York Post indicated Thursday.
San Antonio and Memphis are also interested in Brown...
The French national team got exhibition play underway with a 101-93 win over Finland as EuroBasket 2013 inches closer.
Three San Antonio Spurs players suited up for Team France including Boris Diaw, Tony Parker and Nando De Colo and all helped France to the win. However, it was Diaw who led the team to the tune of 14 points, 7 assists and 7 rebounds in 26 minutes of play.
Cory Joseph is in Toronto for the next two weeks attending the Team Canada Senior Men’s Basketball training camp as the team is set to play at the end of the month in the qualifiers for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
Joseph was asked what he learned in his first NBA Finals experience.
“It was good, a great experience," said Joseph. "Obviously every possession...
According to the French website Franceinfo.fr, San Antonio Spurs guard Nando De Colo was withheld from practicing with the French national team Thursday due to an undisclosed injury.
However, De Colo is still expected to play in France's first exhibition game on Friday against Finland.
While the first warm-up match at Eurobasket 2013 is scheduled on Friday, Nando De Colo...
The San Antonio Spurs have one roster spot left heading into next season and it possibly could be filled by center Greg Oden. There has been numerous reports linking the Spurs (among other teams) as possibly Oden's next stop in his NBA career.
Reports state the Pelicans and Heat are the frontrunners, however, the Spurs are still in the mix for the big man's services...
