TEAMS: Brooklyn Nets
Nowadays Brooklyn (particularly the Park Slope neighborhood in which the Barclays Center resides) is more closely associated with indie music and hipsters than hip hop, but it’s still a community indebted to the rap community. So, leave it to the Brooklyn Nets to venerate Dr. Dre. Dre’s 1992 solo debut, entitled The Chronic, is one of hip hop’s all-time great records and gold standards. It’s also noted to be fairly vulgar and generally NSFW, so you’ll just have to trust us when we say there’s a track on the album upon which a phrase currently appearing on Nets NBA-licensed apparel is paying homage to. The phrase appearing on the hats and shirts is “Deez Nets,” and it’s a reference to track No. 6 on the original version of the album. Go check that out for yourself (having been forewarned) and check out pictures of the Nets’ new merchandise in the pictures below. Photo via Twitter/@halfbee29 Photo via Twitter/Daiquan Rabey

Cavaliers (2-5) at Nets (3-2) - Game 8

OPENING TIP In the NBA, we have a tendency to overrate some of the games biggest stars. That may be what the Brooklyn Nets have done with Deron Williams. Now, make no mistake, Williams is an All-Star. He can win games for you from the point guard position. But hes probably not a No. 1 option, even if the Nets try to promote him as such. Or more accurately, hes probably not a No...

Keith Bogans' hard foul on Leandro Barbosa

The screencaps on this Keith Bogans foul look worse than the GIF. Look, if Bogans snaps Leandro Barbosa’s neck, then we might be talking flagrant. He’s only holding Leandro’s neck to prevent him from crashing to the floor. That’s just tough Brooklyn Nets playoff basketball right there – in November. Behind some fantastic play from Bass and Barbosa, who had 10 pts in the quarter, the C’s pulled to within 3...
