Oklahoma City Thunder coach Scott Brooks knows he has really accomplished something by getting his team to the NBA finals.
His 79-year-old mother Lee, who hates flying, is going to get on a plane to come watch his Thunder play for the championship.
Brooks said Friday his mother refused to fly to see him play in the NBA until he was on the Houston Rockets team that played for and won the 1994 title. She held out the same requirements when he became the Thunder's coach in 2008.
She has come to see his teams when they have played in Sacramento, but otherwise she's often parked in front of the television and hollering at it when the Thunder play.
Brooks' mom said last year that if she ever came to a game, she ''might be thrown out.''

NBA Store was selling a ‘Beat the Heat’ NBA Finals Thunder T-shirt (Picture)
It looks like the NBA Store jumped the gun yet again. For a brief period on Friday evening, a “Beat the Heat” Oklahoma City Thunder T-shirt (pictured above) was being sold on NBA.com. If you look carefully, you’ll notice an NBA Finals logo at the bottom of the shirt.
Even though the Thunder have already clinched a spot in the Finals, the problem is their opponent hasn...

Westbrook dunk, as shot by Phantom camera
Russell Westbrook takes no mercy on rims across the country when he plays and his dunk in Game 6 against the Spurs was no exception. The dunk was spectacular enough in real time but when the Phantom camera is doing its thing, it is a work of art. Enjoy.

Trailer for Kevin Durant’s movie “Thunderstruck”
With the Oklahoma City Thunder appearing in their first ever NBA Finals. Everything is going right for Kevin Durant. To add to all the good things coming up for NBA superstar, the trailer for his new family friendly movie called Thunderstruck was recently released. Instead of the old body-switching model, he (playing himself) faces difficulty because of a talent-transfer which...
(Photo) OKC takes Harden's beard to new heights
Congratulations Oklahoma City Thunder, you are in the NBA playoffs for the first time since moving from Seattle. You now have the chance to capture an NBA title.
It is a well-deserved march to the NBA Finals, thanks in large part to the play of James Harden.
The reigning Sixth Man of the Year made some clutch shots versus the Spurs in the Western Conference Finals, and steadied...
Kevin Durant’s movie “Thunderstruck” trailer
This is the trailer to Kevin Durant’s movie, Thunderstruck, which is to be released this summer — August 24th is the specific date — and watch in all of its epic terribleness. To be fair, it’s meant for the Disney-esque audience, and call me crazy, but I’d watch it. H/T NewsOK
Headline in Washington state paper: ‘Sonics advance to Finals, oh wait’ (pic)
That. Is. Awesome. Well played, Tri-City Herald of Kennewick, Wash. Nothing much more to add here. Except to say, sorry, Sonics fans. You guys got totally jacked. 2008 may seem like a long time ago to most of us, but to those folks up in Washington who lived and breathed and supported the Seattle SuperSonics [...]
OKC Thunderstruck: Oklahoma City Thunder are Finals Bound
Way to go, Oklahoma City. I love watching this team and can’t wait to do some more of it. Congrats to Scotty Brooks, Darantula and the entire Thunder franchise for showing how it’s done. One more hill to climb.
Oklahoma City all grow'ed up
Oklahoma City trailed by 18 points... at home... in a closeout game... against a seasoned, veteran, championship team in San Antonio.
It was both masterful and stunning. The Spurs looked invincible, playing free and loose for the first time since Game Two. The Thunder looked wide-eyed and overwhelmed by the moment and the pressure to finish with an amped up crowd at home.

Seattle area is taking the Thunder’s success in stride
Here is a photo of the front page from the Tri-City Herald in Kennewick, Washington. It seems that they are extremely excited about the Oklahoma City Thunder winning the Western Conference. Yeah, I think it is safe to say they are still smarting over the SuperSonics leaving town after Kevin Durant’s rookie season. Blame Starbucks. H/T [...]
OKC's Derek Fisher hoping to be NBA king again
OKLAHOMA CITY Derek Fisher had just finished buttoning his dress shirt at his locker when he shot a sideways glance at a reporter from Los Angeles.
"Kings win?" the Oklahoma City Thunder guard asked late Wednesday night.
Informed they had lost to the New Jersey Devils, the former longtime Laker sighed.
"So, Game 5 in L.A.?" Fisher inquired hopefully.

Will Durant win a championship before Lebron?
Kevin Durant is doing the unexpected, beating the San Antonio Spurs. Just about everyone including myself thought that the Spurs would have no issues beating the Oklahoma City Thunder in five to six games at least. Now the series is going the Thunder’s way, where they can close out the series and advance to the Championship tomorrow night. Lebron [...]
Is Derek Fisher the new Robert Horry?
Derek Fisher is on the verge of winning his sixth NBA championship. For those keeping count, that would be one more than Kobe Bryant. During last night’s game when the Thunder were about to eliminate the San Antonio Spurs the announcers started referring to Fisher as “the New Robert Horry,” meaning that he makes big [...]
Oklahoma City May Be Getting Ahead of Themselves, Are Selling 'Beat the Heat' Shirts
Somebody forgot to tell the Oklahoma City Thunder's marketing department that LeBron James' eruption in Game 6 did not equal two wins for the Miami Heat. How else to explain the appearance of a "Beat the Heat" T-shirt now for sale on the Thunder's team store website? No "Beat the Celtics" matching T-shirt was readily apparent on the site, so it appears...
Starting Lineups: Derek Fisher’s Ultimate Contribution
When the Oklahoma City Thunder overcame being down 2-0 in a series, a 20-game winning streak from the opposing San Antonio Spurs, an 18-point deficit in game 6 and won the Western Conference Finals last night, it reminded me of a lyric by Nasir Jones, a.k.a. Nas. “My child, I’ve watched you grow up to [...]
