Byron Scott Believes The 2017 Warriors Would Win Only Two Games Against The 1996 Bulls In The NBA Finals

Byron Scott believes the 2017 Golden State Warriors could have mostly won two games against the 1996 Chicago Bulls.

The three-time NBA champion firmly believed the Bulls side was equipped with the artillery to take down the Warriors who won the championship in 2017. 

Speaking to Aries Spears on the 'Off The Dribble: The Byron Scott Podcast', the former believed it would be the Bulls who would emerge victorious. Spears said:

The Kevin Durant's Golden State Warriors against the 72-10 Bulls. Who wins that series? And before you answer, I'mma tell you this. Honestly, I'm being nice and I'd give the Warriors a game. I think it's a sweep, but I give them a game.

And in response, Scott replied why the Bulls would win the Finals despite the Warriors winning two games:

"I'd give them two. But I'm going with the Bulls. I'd give them two because you look around that Chicago Bulls team, and you look at the Golden State team, and you know this is always that question - 'Who gonna guard Steph? Who gonna guard Klay?'"

"Okay, you do know they had three of the best defenders of all time in Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, and Ron Harper. So they gonna guard the sh*t out of them."

The 2017 Warriors vs 1996 Bulls has been one of the most debated topics in the NBA, and now we know one player who leans towards the latter.

He may have sided with the Bulls against the 2017 Warriors, but Scott, a former Laker, claimed that the Showtime Lakers would get the better of MJ's Bulls dynasty.

Speaking on his podcast, he believed that his team could take on the famed Bulls trio of Jordan, Pippen, and Rodman.

"You didn't have to guard Dennis Rodman. On our team and in the 80s you had five guys on the court all those guys could dribble, shoot, rebound, run, I mean it was a different style of basketball. When I look at our era compared to this era, you know I always think that we would have been very competitive as a basketball team."

"I still think we were one of the greatest teams that ever you know that ever played the game, that was ever assembled. I'll take us against that Bulls team you know with MJ, Rodman, and Scottie."

That may be up for debate, but there was never a doubt that the Showtime Lakers could give the next-era players a run for their money.

They had players who boasted of versatility and skill Kareem in Abdul-Jabbar and Magic Johnson. The likes of James Worthy and Scott could do more than just hold their own and were perfect complementary pieces. And the fact that the Lakers won the five titles just adds to Scott making his case.
