Cam Johnson alludes to "tough conversations" during the Nets' short break
USA TODAY Sports

Heading into the season, the Brooklyn Nets were a team projected to compete for an automatic spot in the Eastern Conference Playoffs. They have not met expectations because they have a below .500 record after starting the season on a high note.

Since the Nets got chosen to play in Paris against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Brooklyn had a lengthy break in the middle of the regular season. Forward Cameron Johnson has said the team is having high-quality discussions in practice.

"That break definitely allows us some reflection time where we can really dig deep and take some time to try and iron things out, which we have done over the last two days," Cam said in an interview after practice. "It's building conversations, tough conversations. All we're trying to do is figure things out and get on the same page, and I think they were two productive days and I hope they're beneficial for us."

The Nets need to get on the same page

Brooklyn has looked disjointed across multiple games. That should not happen for such a talented team filled with positive personalities. Coach Jacque Vaughn has challenged his players to perform better, and that's what the team wants to do.

This should translate well into the Nets' playstyle because if they keep tackling all the issues, they will know how to keep working hard on defense and being focused on ball distribution.

They have a 16-21 record heading into this game, which puts them in the 10th seed, just inside the Plan-In Tournament. That should not be the only number the Nets are facing because they get back to .500 with a good winning streak.

Getting back on track

The next few games for the Nets are challenging as they will play against the Cavs, Miami Heat, and the two Los Angeles teams, to name a few. However, if they can continue playing like they did in their win against the OKC Thunder, this Brooklyn team can reach the Playoff summit again.

With the tough conversations that Cam is citing, there will be some issues they want to address on the court. That is a smart decision for the team because they will be extra motivated to keep going and playing their hearts out.
