With the Dallas Mavericks brass set to meet with free agent Deron Williams on Monday, it freed up some time for Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle to take in some dinner in New York City on Sunday night.
And so he did...it just so happened that the dinner was with another prospective free agent with ties to Dallas.
"Great dinner and metting in NYC at Atlantic Grill w Coach Carlisle," free agent swingman C.J. Miles posted to his Twitter account Sunday night. "Can most definitely see why players like and play well for him."
Miles and the Mavericks have been connected as a possible match this offseason. Miles is a product of Dallas Skyline High School and has mentioned in the past that he would be open for a return home.
Dallas, looking to get younger across the board as they retool the roster, would be interested in the 6-6 guard who has played for the last seven years in Utah.
Miles, 25, has posted career averages of 8.4 points and 2.2 rebounds per game, who came right to the pros out of high school.

From ESPN Dallas comes story that the Dallas Mavericks have excercised their option on Vince Carter’s salary, which seems to be about $ 3.1 million. Charles Barkley has been known to make a controversial comment (or several) in his time. This one is no different. Deron Williams and Jason Kidd are reportedly planning to sign with the same team, and signs are pointing to that team being the Brooklyn Nets.
It looks like whichever team lands the most coveted free agent available this year will also have to bring in a future Hall of Famer. Not that that is a bad thing. SI.com is reporting that Deron Williams and Jason Kidd have decided to sign for the same team this offseason. They just haven’t decided [...]
Charles Barkley is always good for a quote. Such was the case at a recent celebrity baseball game in Texas, where the former NBA star recalled his first meeting with Dirk Nowitzki when he was touring Germany with a group of NBA stars in 1997. Nowitzki, 18 at the time, was having his way with noted defensive stopper Scottie Pippen, dropping "like 52" points, according to...
We all know that illegal recruiting is commonplace in the world of collegiate athletics, but most people prefer not to talk about it. Charles Barkley enjoys talking about everything. At a celebrity softball game over the weekend, Barkley was telling a story in the locker room while his teammates listened attentively and cameras captured the action. Sir Charles spoke about the time...

Lamar Odom withdrew his name from Olympic consideration, leaving Team USA with 15 finalists.
Never mind fireworks, block parties and days at the beach, Lamar Odom got an early start Monday celebrating the Fourth of July.
He used the Stars and Stripes as a doormat.
After all but begging Team USA coach Mike Krzyzewski to remain under consideration for the Olympic team despite being deactivated by the Mavericks for a season-long lack of commitment, Odom informed Krzyzewski...
It was only one team that he wanted to play for, until that team couldn’t make a deal for him. Dwight Howard is now reportedly pushing for a trade to the Dallas Mavericks, with the Nets moving forward without him. Earlier today, it was reported by Yahoo!Sports columnist Adrian Wojnarowski that Howard had informed him [...]
