Two things became very apparent during the Knicks’ hard fought  99-89 loss to the Miami Heat on Friday night. First off, the Knicks moved the ball better and had significantly better flow in their offense due to the absence of Carmelo Anthony. However, the game also proved that the Knicks cannot win a close game without Carmelo Anthony. Seems contradictory, does it not? Well, the Knicks played solid basketball for three quarters; they led for a good portion of an absolute see-saw battle of a game, while moving the ball very well and getting open shots, as D’antoni teams are supposed to do. When they needed someone to step up late, though, there was nobody to turn to. Amar’e Stoudemire? He is far from a closer, and his struggles this year have been immense, playing the worst basketball of his career. Landry Fields, Toney Douglas, Iman Shumpert, and Bill Walker are all inconsistent and unreliable, as good of role players as they can be at times. It seemed as if the Knicks were about r...

  • Live by the 3 die by the 3 !
Bill Walker can shoot wide open 3's with the best of them, but if he moves one foot or twitches an ear it will be a turnover.
Without a point guard Stoudemire is invisible. There's not one guy besides Melo that can create a shot for himself.

Carmelo Anthony: The Reason New York Keeps Losing

Carmelo Anthony is averaging just under eight rebounds a night in as many games, but each one has resulted in a loss for the Knicks. And for as well as he’s been grabbing the boards of late, far more often is he denting the glass on the other end with a barrage of misguided shots. ‘Melo is the best player on New York’s roster and the biggest reason why they are...

Another is taking a seat.Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade returned for Friday nights game against the New York Knicks at AmericanAirlines Arena after missing six games due to a sprained right ankle. Heat Reaction After Victory Over New York Knicks

Three-pointers galoreA Heat-Knicks game is always a big event at the AAA, with plenty of New York fans coming out to support their team, no matter how bad they are. Cavs Continue Domination Of Knicks, As New York Has No Answer For Andy

I stood watching Mike D'Antoni's pregame press conference and walked away before the game literally feeling sorry for the guy. About an hour later, I finally asked myself why it was I cared exactly? I suppose I don't. But if I did care, I later decided, if I was related to the guy, delivered him newspapers as a kid, or had some remote rooting interesting in his team&...

Swapping Garbage: The Truth About NBA Trades

Too often in the NBA the term blockbuster gets associated with trades or potential trades.   The fact of the matter is that there are only four teams with a legitimate chance to win an NBA title this year.  The Los Angeles Lakers, Oklahoma City Thunder, Chicago Bulls, and Miami Heat.  Thunder, Heat and Bulls already have the rosters in place to get it done, the Lakers would...

Knicks-Rockets Preview

The Houston Rockets are one of the hottest teams in the NBA, and Kevin Martin's absence hasn't cooled them. The New York Knicks are slumping, and playing without Carmelo Anthony only makes matters worse. With Martin's status clouded, the Rockets attempt to take advantage of Anthony's absence and win for the ninth time in 10 games when they host the struggling Knicks...

The Knicks Get Back to Their Ugly Business

After Tuesday night's rousing victory over Charlotte, we were left to wonder if the improved Knicks play was a result of the team dedicating itself to a new approach or the fact that the Bobcats were an undermanned, undertalented team that played particularly poorly for even those meager circumstances. We got our answer on Wednesday night and it wasn't the one that made the...
