Fox Sports Ohio:
Anderson Varejao leads the NBA in rebounding at 15.4 per game. Hes recorded 10 straight double-doubles. Hes recorded 10 straight games of at least 15 rebounds.
More precisely, in the previous 10 games, Varejao is averaging 17.4 rebounds per game. In the Cavs four wins, hes at 18.8 rpg.
On top of that, Varejao is the Cavs top scorer (15.0 ppg) and arguably their best passer while Kyrie Irving and Dion Waiters are sidelined with injuries.
We always knew Varejao had this type of potential. Even before this season, he was pretty good. But this year, man, hes off the charts.
Then theres Kevin Love. You remember him, dont you?
Hes the Timberwolves power forward who compiled an NBA-record 53 consecutive double-doubles in points and rebounds last season.
Like Varejao, Love has great hands for a big man and a real nose for the ball. Love is a more reliable scorer, the defending three-point shooting champion, and perhaps the games best all-around power forward.
Love has played in just eight games this season, but hes picking up right where left off -- with averages of 19.4 points and 14.4 rebounds. In time, you can be sure those numbers will get even better.
Varejao and Love dont play the same position (Varejao is the Cavs center), but there will certainly be moments Friday when theyre in each others path. And regardless of who defends whom, Varejao and Love will be chasing down the same missed shots.
The Cavs (4-15) are struggling to find points, or win games, without the leagues highest scoring backcourt (Irving and Waiters). The Wolves (8-9) are coming around slowly, but theyve also suffered their fair share of injuries.
Both teams are a couple years away, as they say.
But Varejao and Love are hot today, and the fact both will be on the floor tonight makes this a game worth watching.

C Nikola Pekovic; PF Kevin Love; SF Andrei Kirilenko; SG Malcolm Lee; PG Luke Ridnour. Coach: Rick Adelman.
Kirilenko (back) returns for the T-Wolves after missing the previous four games. Waiters remains out for the Cavs with an ankle sprain. He is also doubtful for Saturdays home game vs. Detroit. The Cavs have grabbed at least 10 offensive rebounds in 13 straight games, the second-longest streak in the NBA (behind Memphis). The Wolves are 0-4 when scoring less than 90 points. They are 7-3 when out-rebounding opponents. Scott served as an assistant under Adelman for two seasons in Sacramento (1998-2000). The Cavs lead the all-time series, 28-15.

Anderson Varejao was everything I loved about basketball. He was hustle, he was emotion, he was heart. He was 36 minutes of controlled chaos, spinning a fury around opposing frontcourts.
But not anymore.
He’s now much, much more than that.
The Wild Thing is no longer a gimmicky role player, he’s the best center in the Eastern Conference and one of the best players in...
Cavs owner, Dan Gilbert, took to twitter this morning to comment on rebuilding, bitterness, and “the plan”.

Cavaliers head coach Byron Scott forced the team's three rookies to carry around dolls in strollers before Wednesday's game against the Bulls.
Kevin Jones dominated the D-League this season.
In five games he averaged 23.6 points and 12.6 rebounds on 53 percent shooting.
During the Cavaliers 91-73 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday, he earned his way onto the NBA floor for the first time.
It's possible that Kyrie Irving and Dion Waiters helped out by keeping a watchful eye on the baby he's been...
In last week’s Cavaliers Film Room, we broke down three end-game scenarios where the Cavaliers failed to execute in close losses. This week, we’ll focus on the team’s rookie shooting guard, Dion Waiters. We’ve seen some brilliant performances from Dion even in the absence of his playmaking partner in the backcourt, Kyrie Irving. On the other hand, there have been some incredibly...
CLEVELAND -- Five straight. Nine of 10. Fifteen of 17.
If there's one constant this season, it's that the Cavaliers are finding ways not to win. They've done it while trailing for an entire game. They've done it while leading late in the fourth quarter. They've done it by keeping things close and by getting blown out (although, in their defense, not much of the...
After holding a three point lead at half time, the Cavaliers fell behind shortly in the third quarter and could never quite catch up. Cleveland made a strong push in the fourth quarter, getting stop after stop on the defensive end, but continously came up empty on the offensive side of the ball.
The Cavs were led by another strong showing from Jeremy Pargo who finished with 24...
With the Cavaliers having two rookies playing prominent minutes, WFNY thought it would beneficial to see how the fresh meat around the league is faring in comparison with the Cavalier rookies. Each week, we’ll have NBA rookie power rankings where we’ll rack and stack the freshman class of the NBA. The rankings will be weighted with the most recent games carrying the most importance...
Rookie hazing isn’t uncommon in professional sports. Nevertheless, it’s pretty rare that you hear of a head coach leading the charge when it comes to hazing rookies. But that’s exactly what Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Byron Scott is doing.
According to ESPN, Scott is hazing his rookies Dion Waiters, Tyler Zeller and Kevin Jones by making them carry around baby dolls and...
The Cavaliers have assigned forward Jon Leuer to the Canton Charge, the Cavs D-League affiliate.
Leuer is a 6-foot-10 forward who was signed by the Cavs prior to the season. He was waived by Houston in July.
Leuer has played in five games with the Cavs, compiling averages of 3.2 points and 2.0 rebounds.
The Cavs (4-15) are at Minnesota on Friday, before returning to Quicken Loans...

Tonight the Cleveland Cavaliers (4-15, 13th in the East) travel to Minnesota to take on the Timberwolves (8-9, 11th in the West). Once again this is another battle of two teams without their starting PGs. This is getting to be a theme for this season with the Cavaliers recently playing Memphis without Mike Conley and Chicago without Derrick Rose. Tonight...
Kyrie Irving won't be able to help. Rookie guard Dion Waiters wishes he could, but that doesn't look like it's going to happen.
Likely missing their top two scorers for a fourth consecutive game, the host Cavaliers will look to snap a four-game losing streak Saturday night when they face the Detroit Pistons for the second time in six days.
Out the last 10 games with...

We’re in Atlanta this week, which means we’re lucky enough to stay with our man ***** of a friend (just follow his live-tweeting of Match dates as evidence) who also happens to work for a big-time NBA media company who hooks him up with tickets all the time.
So of course, he tells me to get my ass down to Atlanta before last night’s nationally-televised game between the Hawks...
