Found March 26, 2013 on NBA Injury News:
Despite earlier indications to the contrary, the Cleveland Cavaliers have not shut down Kyrie Irving.  The stellar young guard could return from injury this season.  Irving suffered a shoulder injury that was thought to have ended his season.  Irving, though, could make a return even with just a few games left in the season. According to Jason Lloyd of the Beacon Journal, Irving will play if cleared medically.  That has not yet happened, and it still may not happen in a timely enough fashion to allow Irving to return to the court.  However, it's interesting that the Cavaliers would let him come back at all.  The team has nothing to gain by rushing Irving back. But coach Byron Scott doesn't seem to care how many games are left:“I don’t care if there’s one game left in the season and you’ve won three, it’s still all about the competition and trying to win basketball games,” Scott said. “You’ve got to take a stand in there somewhere in just your love for the game. My man Herm [Edwards] said it best, you play to win the game, period. I don’t care how many games are left.”Scott can and should say what he said, but in reality, the business of basketball almost won't allow a team to rush an injured player back.  Just because a guy is cleared medically doesn't mean he's ready to play.  Irving is the current face of that franchise.  To risk further injury in meaningless games (they are essentially exhibition games at this point), doesn't make sense.Follow @hoopsinjurynews!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);;js.src="";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");

Kyrie Irving’s ‘Uncle Drew’ bobbleheads selling for over $500 on eBay

On March 4, the Cleveland Cavaliers held a promotion at Quicken Loans Arena where the team gave away 50 limited edition bobbleheads bearing the likeness of “Uncle Drew,” the curmudgeonly character who can ball with the best of them despite his advanced age who is portrayed by point guard sensation Kyrie Irving in the much ballyhooed commercials for Pepsi Max. According to a Business...

Status of Irving, Waiters still in doubt

CLEVELAND -- Even with Kyrie Irving and Dion Waiters, its hard to tell what youll get from the Cavaliers from night to night. Without them, however, expectations are incredibly low as the Cavs play out the end of another season. And as of right now, its unclear when or if Irving (sprained shoulder) and Waiters (sore knee) will return. Team officials have not updated the status...

Byron Scott on Dion Waiters’ return: “I don’t think he’s even close”

Bad news gets worse for the falling-apart Cavaliers. From today’s Akron Beacon Journal about the status of Dion Waiters’ knee, here’s Byron Scott via beat writer Jason Lloyd: “I don’t think he’s even close. I’m just going by what I’ve seen,” Scott said. “Every time [team physical therapist Sibel] touched it this morning, [Waiters] seemed to be making all these...

Do the Cavaliers Need LeBron James to Contend Again?

In the podcast I did with Craig over the weekend, we talked a bit about the Miami Heat winning streak and whether it’s actually as impressive as it seems. Now, don’t get me wrong, winning 27 straight games in the NBA is always impressive. I cannot emphasize this enough…Their run is amazing. Yet, I still can’t help but feel underwhelmed by it when I look at the rest of the...
