Despite earlier indications to the contrary, the Cleveland Cavaliers have not shut down Kyrie Irving.  The stellar young guard could return from injury this season.  Irving suffered a shoulder injury that was thought to have ended his season.  Irving, though, could make a return even with just a few games left in the season. According to Jason Lloyd of the Beacon Journal, Irving will play if cleared medically.  That has not yet happened, and it still may not happen in a timely enough fashion to allow Irving to return to the court.  However, it's interesting that the Cavaliers would let him come back at all.  The team has nothing to gain by rushing Irving back. But coach Byron Scott doesn't seem to care how many games are left:“I don’t care if there’s one game left in the season and you’ve won three, it’s still all about the competition and trying to win basketball games,” Scott said. “You’ve got to take a stand in there somewhere in just your love for the game. My man Herm [Edwards] said it best, you play to win the game, period. I don’t care how many games are left.”Scott can and should say what he said, but in reality, the business of basketball almost won't allow a team to rush an injured player back.  Just because a guy is cleared medically doesn't mean he's ready to play.  Irving is the current face of that franchise.  To risk further injury in meaningless games (they are essentially exhibition games at this point), doesn't make sense.Follow @hoopsinjurynews!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://www.nbainjurynews.com//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");
