Cleveland Cavaliers' Kyrie Irving has been in the headlines for getting humiliated by Kobe Byrant in a smack-talk session but now he is in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.

While in Las Vegas for the 2012 Summer League, Irving fractured his right hand during a team practice. X-rays were performed and confirmed he did suffer a fracture which will cause him to sit out the rest of the Summer League. According to the report, he will head back to Cleveland and will undergo further tests.

The good news is that 2012 Rookie of the Year will be back in time for Cavs' training camp.

Usually the Summer League is for NBA hopefuls and NBA draftees with some second year players making the trip to Vegas to further mesh into their team's systems. However, usually upper tier players will not play much. Solid rookie players entering their sophomore season do get some time on the court in the Summer League but very minimal in order to not risk injury and to heal up for the NBA season.

Though this is upsetting news for Cavs fans and coaching staff, one has to question if NBA teams will hold back their second season star players from participating in Summer League action for fear of what Irving just went through.
