CLEVELAND (AP) -- Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving is questionable for tonight's game against the Los Angeles Clippers and a possible matchup with fellow All-Star Chris Paul. Irving has missed Cleveland's past two games with a hyperextended right knee, and the team is taking a cautious approach with its best player. Cavs coach Byron Scott said he would rather wait for Irving to "be 100 percent" before playing, adding it will come down to a game-time decision. The Cavs beat Chicago and Toronto without Irving, who injured his knee last week in practice. He did not participate in the team's morning shootaround, but was on the floor briefly to take jumpers. Cleveland is 4-9 in the 13 games Irving has missed this season. He was also sidelined with a broken index finger.

Kyrie Irving Injury: Cavaliers' guard undergoes MRI

The Cleveland Cavaliers don't have much to draw fans to the arena with.  They don't win games.  They don't have LeBron James.  The good people of Cleveland have little reason to show up and support the Cavs at all.  That is, unless Kyrie Irving is playing.  Irving is a show in and of himself.  Unfortunately, he is out again with an apparent injury.According to...

The Cleveland Cavaliers are slated to run a bobblehead promotion for the ages next week.On Monday, the Cavs will basically hold a Kyrie Irving night by handing out a bobblehead in the likeness of their All-Star point guard. But the promotion doesn't stop there.Cleveland will also distribute 50 "Uncle Drew" bobbleheads, which is also in the likeness of Irving, just a...

Cavs' Irving expected to return

Cavaliers All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving is expected to play against New York after missing Cleveland's past three games with a hyperextended right knee. Irving made it through a full practice on Sunday and took part in the Cavs' morning shootaround Monday. Barring any setbacks, Cavs coach Byron Scott said Irving will start against the Knicks. The Cavs rested Irving all...

News broke during tonight’s Cavs-Clippers game that Cleveland rookie Dion Waiters was awarded the February nod for the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month. Here is the official release from the team: “CLEVELAND – Cleveland Cavaliers guard Dion Waiters was named today as the Kia NBA Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month for games played in the month of February. NBA News: Cavaliers and Omri Casspi in talks surrounding buyout

The Cleveland Cavaliers appear willing to meet the wishes of small forward Omri Casspi as the two parties are reportedly engaged in talks surrounding a buyout. Cavs and Omri Casspi indeed engaged in buyout talks, I’m told, with deal to part ways possible before March 1 deadline (which is Friday) — Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) February 28, 2013 Casspi, unhappy with falling out...

Cleveland Cavaliers’ Dion Waiters, turning it around

My man Dion Waiters has been going H.A.M. (flash style) for the last month and a half. Things looked bleak for the Cleveland cavaliers when Kyrie Irving was advised to sit out and rest his knee. However, Waiters has taken Irving’s absence as an opportunity to showcase his skill. He has led the Cavaliers to 2 consecutive win, and nearly added a third over the Miami Heat. With Irving...

Video: CJ Miles dunks on Toronto’s Amir Johnson

Known mostly for his outside game, veteran leadership and sneaker collection, Cavaliers swingman CJ Miles got up on Wednesday night and turned 6-foot-9-inch Amir Johnson into the other name on the caption on the NBA press wire photostream. Credit to Luke Walton whose vision at the high post has worked wonders for this Wine and Gold reserve unit.

Young Cavaliers growing into winners

The young Cavaliers are suddenly developing into consistent winners. After a rough start this season, made rougher by a brutal schedule, the Cavs are showing signs of growth. With one of the NBA's youngest rosters, they went 7-5 in February, their first month with a winning record since 2010, when LeBron James was still wearing wine and gold. All-Star guard Kyrie Irving missed...

WFNY Stats & Info: Cavs stats since the Memphis trade

It’s now officially been 39 days since Chris Grant’s latest act of wizardry, rounding out an actually complete bench for the Cleveland Cavaliers thanks to the help of the Memphis Grizzlies. Over these 39 days, the narrative has changed drastically for the 2012-13 Cavs season: Instead of a distraught and meaningless season ruined by Anderson Varejao’s injury, the youngins are...

For Cavs, loss OK, dawdling not

CLEVELAND -- Well, this much is clear about the Cavaliers: They havent arrived. We already knew that going into their 105-89 loss to the visiting Clippers on Friday night. But this one put a couple exclamation points and a frowny face at the end. The Cavs were outsmarted, outhustled, outmanned and out of luck after winning four of their previous five. Now, nothing wrong with losing...

Checking in with Luke Walton and some thoughts on Shaun and Dion

Highlighted by his epic performance down the stretch against the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday, Luke Walton emerged as a potential candidate to soon enter my personal Hall of Fame for random Cavaliers to go on the most memorable runs in recent history. Then, following Wednesday’s win over the Toronto Raptors, Walton officially joined that group headlined by the legendary Lester...

WFNY Podcast – 2013-03-01 Craig and Andrew Discuss MIT Sloan Conference, Dion Waiters, and more

Craig is in Boston this weekend for the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference, but that didn’t stop him from calling me up for another podcast episode. Admittedly, I like most of my fellow WFNY writers are pretty envious that Craig is lucky enough to take in this impressive and prestigious sports media conference in person, and so we started off spending a couple minutes talking...

Box Score: Cavaliers 89, Clippers 105

“I think we saw one of the most underrated, unsung teams in the NBA tonight.” That was the comment from FOX Sports Ohio’s Jeff Phelps after the Cavaliers’ tough 105-89 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers tonight. Head coach Byron Scott certainly was not as eloquent or long-winded after the contest, which snapped an 10-game losing streak by the Clippers (43-18) at Quicken Loans...

Clippers-Cavaliers Preview

The Los Angeles Clippers are one of the top road teams in the NBA. Whether that will help the Pacific Division leaders win their first game in Cleveland in more than a decade remains to be seen. Los Angeles will try to end a 10-game road losing streak in this series on Friday night when the improving Cavs could be without All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving for a third consecutive...
