Ever since it became official that New Orleans will drop "Hornets" and become the "Pelicans" next season, Charlotte is in full force trying to reclaim the team's original nickname to replace "Bobcats." Titled "Let's take back our buzz," (which sounds like some motto for hard core drinkers) check out the video of the push for "Hornets" to return to Charlotte. Between a hornet and a bobcat, the bobcat sounds more ferocious but I get it. The city wants to go back to its roots and perhaps use it as a fresh start considering the Bobcats have not been successful in the NBA. But I wonder if any team will be clamoring to claim the "Bobcats" team name in the future. it is much better than the "Pelicans." Yeah I am not a fan of that new name for New Orleans. Tyrus Thomas Now Exists in Fans’ Cubicle Calendars Only

According to Rick Bonnell, Tyrus Thomas didn’t even join the team on the latest West Coast road trip. I find this stunning, considering that coach Dunlap has shown he’ll still play guys who are willfully insubordinate (Ben Gordon) or who are willfully trying to eat their way onto a future season of The Biggest Loser [...]

New Orleans Hornets: Austin Rivers Finally Showing Improvement

About a third of the way through the NBA season, an ESPN advanced statistics analyst, said that New Orleans Hornets’ rookie, Austin Rivers was having the worst season in NBA history and at the time he may have been right. However, over the last month he has shown steady improvement. What was most alarming, was his field goal percentages, which were laughably awful, but recently...

Bobcats In a Tailspin

Tonight, I forgot there was a game.  Apparently, so did the Charlotte Bobcats.  That’s a bad joke thousands of people make all the time.  I often make it.  My dear sweet, long suffering mother often asks, “Are the Bobcats playing tonight?”  I respond with the incredibly ingenius “Well, they were scheduled to, but they forgot [...]

Anthony Davis returns with 17 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks

New Orleans Hornets rookie Anthony Davis had a different call of duty Monday. Davis, returning from a shoulder injury and presumably a lot of COD: Black Ops, showed off his potential for dominance: 17 points (6-of-13 shooting, 5-of-9 free throws), 15 rebounds and four blocks in 39 minutes. The No. 1 pick isn't likely in rookie-of-the-year contention, but he's piecing together...

Michael Jordan’s new Charlotte-area home (GALLERY)

Newsflash: Michael Jordan is worth a lot of money, that is, if you count $650 million as a lot.  As insane as it sounds (and it sounds incredibly insane), MJ still pulls in $60 million in royalties…ANNUALLY. So when Jordan went and spent $2.8 million, it was no big thing.  But hey, it’s still a $2.8 million home.  He bought it to not live out of a suitcase when he’s in town...

Bobcats Leave Tyrus Thomas In Charlotte On Four-Game Road Trip

Tyrus Thomas is signed through the 2015 season.

Hornets' Davis, Magic's Nelson both returning

New Orleans rookie forward Anthony Davis and Orlando guard Jameer Nelson both are returning to their respective lineups for Monday night's game between the Hornets and Magic. Hornets coach Monty Williams says Davis is ready to return with no playing time restrictions after missing two games with a left shoulder sprain. Magic coach Jacque Vaughn says Nelson also is without playing...

BOBCATS CONTINUE TO DEPRESS, FALL TO KINGS 119-83

We need a silver lining, right?  Gillie the Kidd shot 50% from the floor, was perfect from the free throw line, and grabbed 6 boards.   Watching Bobcats games as of late is becoming hazardous to any fan's health.  It is one thing to watch a young team develop its youth, and see its youth growing while they lose by reasonable margins, but it is something completely...

Game 61 Preview: Brooklyn Nets (34-26) at Charlotte Bobcats (13-47)

Mike Dunlap has certainly had a trying year in his first campaign as a NBA head coach. Running the Bobcats can have that effect on most coaches   When: 7:00 pm; Wednesday, March 6th, 2013 Where: Time Warner Cable Arena; Charlotte, NC TV: YES Network As I wrote yesterday, the Nets are being granted a wonderful opportunity tonight as they get to play...

Hornets fall short against Magic

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- Arron Afflalo scored five of his game-high 26 points in the final 38 seconds, and the Orlando Magic snapped a three-game skid with a 105-102 victory over the New Orleans Hornets on Monday night. Jameer Nelson, returning from a left knee injury that sidelined him six games, scored 15 points and Tobias Harris also scored 15 for Orlando, which trailed by as many...

BOBCATS SHOW UP BUT LOSE ANYWAY

Well, after a spirited afternoon of email exchanges that involved everything from cries for Coach Dunlap’s head, to headed defenses of the man, to Salma Hayek and Jennifer Lawrence, to corn dogs, and back to Coach Dunlap, it’s time for another Cats game. (No, we never take a day off, and that’s only a tiny glimpse at what you’re missing by not being part of the staff here...
