Found April 19, 2012 on Celtics Life:
According to ESPN Boston,  the Celtics are close to signing center Sean Williams.  They will officially waive Jermaine O'Neal to make room for Williams.  And the Jermaine O'Neal era in Boston is (finally) over.   The former Boston College player was waived by the Mavericks in March as the Mavs needed a wing more than they did a 4th center.  Since he was waived before the March 23 deadline, he will be eligible to play in the playoffs.  However, with not much time to get acclimated with the Celtics' system, he probably won't see a lot of time unless there is some drastic foul trouble. Williams, who is 6-foot-10 and weighs 235-pounds averaged 3.6 points and 1.6 rebounds in 8.1 minutes in eight games with the Mavericks this season.  He averaged 15.2 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in 27 games for  Dallas' D-League affiliate, the Texas Legends. Williams has had some off court problems, including some problems with marijuana use and was dismissed from the Bost...

Greg Stiemsma wants to remain a Celtic

Greg Stiemsma has earned himself some money this season, and when he gets paid, he would like to remain a Boston Celtic. (CSNNE)Stiemsma will be a restricted free agent this summer with a qualifying offer worth $1.05 million. After traveling through Europe and the NBA Development League for years, the 26-year-old center would like to return next season to the team that gave him...

Magic Johnson and Jon Barry state Rajon Rondo is the best point guard in the NBA

In Magic Johnson's "Magic 8 Ball" TV segment, the ESPN crew discussed whether Rajon Rondo is currently the best point guard in the NBA this season. Said Jon Barry: "With all due respect to Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, Darren Williams, Steve Nash, the whole list, Rondo is the best point guard in the NBA this season." Magic Johnson concurred, and compared...

Kevin Garnett thinks Avery Bradley should get paid

Kevin Garnett has a lot of great things to say about Avery Bradley, you can tell he's proud of how he has developed and emerged as, really, one of the most important members of this Celtics team. Plus, he hints he needs to be "rewarded". Agree? Comment below or add us to your circles on Google+

Celtics win Atlantic Division title, and this time it means something more

The Boston Celtics have never made it a habit to celebrate division titles. Not with Bill Russell blocking shots, or with John Havlicek, or with Larry Bird, and not with the new Big Three. The NBA’s winningest franchise only hangs banners for league championships, not for beating out the New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers in the Atlantic Division. Getting to Game 7 of the...

Report: Celtics Waive Jermaine O'Neal, Set to Sign Sean Williams

The Jermaine O'Neal experiment in Boston just didn't quite pan out how fans or Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge had hoped. After two seasons and less than 50 games in uniform for the C's -- 49 to be exact, it appears that the Celtics are parting ways with the six-time NBA All-Star, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.com. The move won't come as a...

Ray Allen reportedly feels slighted by Celtics, unsure if he'll return to Boston

The Celtics are mounting a late-season surge up the standings, but are doing it with Ray Allen not having the best morale. Allen was almost dealt at the trade deadline to the Grizzlies for O.J. Mayo, but with the deal falling through, Allen’s relationship with the Celtics’ front office has become damaged. With that and being demoted to the bench recently, a “slighted” Allen’s...

Avery Bradley, Keyon Dooling Among Players Relieving Celtics' Backcourt Concerns

Avery Bradley did his best impression of a natural point guard for more than 36 minutes on Wednesday. He brought the ball up the court, got the Celtics into their offense and then got out of the way for Paul Pierce to take care of distributing the basketball. Most importantly for the Celtics, Bradley protected the ball, entering the final 30 seconds against the Magic with only three...

Trading Ray Allen, Paul Pierce Would Have Been 'Scary' for Celtics Coach Doc Rivers (Video)

Telling a player he has been traded, only to call back a short time later to tell him he actually has not been traded after all, could be described a number of ways. Awkward. Uncomfortable. Possibly volatile. Doc Rivers had another word to describe a report that Ray Allen and Paul Pierce were nearly traded away in March, which Rivers confirmed prior to Wednesday's game against...

Pietrus is happy with division crown, but wants #18

Celtics Nations.. Great Win tonight and for Winning the Division. We want to go after The Big Gold Fish .....18 All day — Mickael Pietrus (@MickaelPietrus) April 19, 2012

Ray Allen was told he was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies: This fun ride probably shouldn’t be happening

I just woke up from a nightmare in which Steve Novak drilled 497 threes, Rajon Rondo fell helplessly on his back and could later be seen lying uncomfortably on the Madison Square Garden court, Ray Allen’s ankle was the size of a bowling ball so he couldn’t play, Mickael Pietrus came down with an injury and Carmelo Anthony somehow became a menacing all-around player. The cold...

Celtics win Atlantic Division, Red Sox lose third straight

No Ray Allen, Rajon Rondo, or Michael Pietrus. No problem. Paul Pierce and Avery Bradley led the Celtics to a 102-98 win over the Orlando Magic to clinch their fifth straight Atlantic Division title. Pierce scored four of his game-high 29 points in the final 7.6 seconds to clinch the win. Pierce also dished out a career-high 14 assists. Pierce got most of the postgame attention....

The Truth can sting, the truth can free

Paul Pierce knows how to make plays when the chips are down. That is what he has done for years and years. This moment would be no different. Twice he found a way to crush the Magic and put away a game where the Celtics just could not put it away. Not until the end. Not until Paul Pierce laid down The Truth. And Pierce showed that, while the Magic might be a grittier, harder working...

Celtics close to signing Sean Williams after waiving Jermaine O’Neal

The Boston Celtics have waived Jermaine O’Neal and are close to signing former Boston College Eagle Sean Williams, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.com.Consider this similar to the Tony Gaffney signing of two years ago, in that the Celtics are signing a project who could play dividends down the road but isn’t likely to field a single second of playing time during the playoff...
