Golden State Warriors
The Celtics cooled off Stephen Curry early, then shut down the rest of Golden State's lineup in the second half well enough to overcome their own mistakes.
Boston missed almost half its free throws in the first half and committed seven turnovers in the third quarter, but never let up defensively in a 94-86 win over the Warriors on Friday night.
Curry still led Golden State with 25 points, but that was less than half his total from two nights before when he scored 54 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
''I told our guys, `If Steph has 54 and we win, I'm taking that. We have to guard everyone else,''' Celtics coach Doc Rivers said.
The pressure defense cost the Celtics their starting backcourt for much of the second half when guards Avery Bradley and Courtney Lee got into foul trouble, but they had already accomplished their mission by getting Curry out of sync early.
Curry made all 10 of his free throws, but just two in the second half when the Celt...

UNDER THE BIG LIGHTS
Tweet Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry has rebounded quite well from the ankle injuries that plagued him all of 2011-2012. So far this season Curry has played in 54 of the Warriors 58 games and is averaging career highs with 21.9 points per game (eighth in the NBA) and 6.5 assists while knocking [...]
On the biggest stage of basketball, Stephen Curry goes off for a career high 54 points (18 of 28), 11 of 13 from beyond the arc, 7 assists and 6 rebounds in the 4 point loss to the New York Knicks. He is the only player in NBA history to score 50 plus points on 10 plus made threes. Even though the Warriors did not get the result they would have liked, Curry made a huge statement...
Stephen Curry couldn't miss from behind the three point line last night against the Knicks. He dropped 54 points, and a total of 11 three pointers. He did however miss on an attempted high five with teammate Draymond Green. Or just left him hanging, either way. The Knicks still won the game 109-105 despite the unstoppable performance by Curry. Doesn't say much for...
Curry Cooks MSG
The Knicks prevailed against the Golden State Warriors 109-105 last night at MSG. Over the years, the Mecca of Basketball, nestled in Gotham City on 7th avenue between 33rd and 32nd Streets–a bounce pass away from Macy’s and the Empire State Building, has witnessed command performances by NBA royalty. Stephen Curry dropped 54 points, while conjuring up images...
Stephen Curry‘s 54-point explosion at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night earned the Warriors guard a lot of new fans. Already widely considered one of the greatest shooters ever, Curry drew praise from many as the best shooter in the game today. At least, that was how Celtics coach Doc Rivers sees it.
If Curry is the clear-cut choice as the best pure shooter in the game,...
Stephen Curry cemented himself in Madison Square Garden history with his 54 point, 11-13 from behind the arc game on Wednesday, Feb. 27. The performance marked the Garden’s third highest point total in it’s long, decorated history, behind Jordan’s famous 55 in 1995, and Kobe’s incredible 61 in 2009. Curry may have proved no one in the game has as pure of a shot as he recently...

The matchup between the Knicks and Warriors lived up to the hype as one of the more exciting games of the NBA season took place at Madison Square Garden Wednesday night. It was a high scoring affair with three pointers raining down from all over the court, mostly from one

We often wonder what opposing teams, their beat reporters and bloggers are saying about the Celtics. Here’s a look at some enemy chatter from northern California.
The second reason Curry impressed me is what he did to Avery Bradley. It can’t be overstated how great an on-ball defender Bradley is. He has achieved near-legendary status in Beantown already, in parts of 2 injury...
BOSTON — It was not a rhetorical question, though it may have seemed like one. As the Celtics prepared Friday morning to face the Golden State Warriors that night, coach Doc Rivers wondered aloud, “How many times have they been zoned?”
The answer was about what one would expect against a squad like the Warriors, who have arguably the league’s top shooting backcourt in Stephen...
Hours before Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors dropped 54 points on the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden, Mike Woodson spoke with the media New York about suffering a major loss. Yes, the Knicks would go on to beat the Warriors, but Woodson’s pre-game defeat focused instead on the left foot of Rasheed Wallace.
His season is likely over. But what about Wallace’s...

The longest homestand of their season might be exactly what the Golden State Warriors need.
After playing 10 of their last 13 on the road - and winning just once away from home in that stretch - they'll host the Toronto Raptors on Monday night in the first of seven straight at home. It's a series Golden State has dominated lately with six wins in seven meetings and seven...
