Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers says Kevin Garnett is in the lineup for Wednesday night's game against the New Orleans Hornets. The 6-foot-11 Garnett had been sidelined for two games by a left thigh injury and the flu. Boston split the two games, losing to streaking Miami on in the final seconds Monday night. Garnett is averaging 14.8 points and 7.8 rebounds this season. His return comes as Boston attempts to climb into one of the top four playoff seeds in the Eastern Conference. The Celtics (36-30) entered Wednesday night's game only 2 1/2 games behind Brooklyn for the fourth spot, which guarantees home-court advantage in the playoffs for at least one round.

Kevin Garnett will play tonight

Kevin Garnett is a go tonight according to Doc Rivers #celtics — gary washburn (@GwashNBAGlobe) March 20, 2013 It's good to see the big fella back and active for tonight's game. I wonder how many minutes Doc will let him play against the lowly Hornets. Tip-off tonight in New Orleans is at 8 PM.

Kevin Garnett sits as Heat beat Celtics

He may not have changed the outcome, but Kevin Garnett can change a game.  He's done it his whole career.  And he always seems to play better in the big games.  Last night's game against the Miami Heat would have qualified.  No one wants to be the next team to help increase the streak.  But that's what happened with Garnett on the bench. The Heat took on the Celtics...

KG makes the trip to New Orleans

The Boston Celtics traveled to New Orleans for the start of a three-game road trip on Tuesday and Kevin Garnett (illness, thigh) flew with his teammates after missing the past two games, according to the team. ESPN Boston KG’s had a couple of games off now to rest his hip, shake his flu bug, clip that hang nail, tweeze those problem eyebrows….. whatever the hell it is that...

Terry: We'll see Heat in the playoffs

Jason Terry is confident that the Celtics will meet the Heat in the playoffs and that there will be "fireworks." He had more to say.

Why the Celtics Can Beat the Heat

If I were to ask you at the beginning of the year, if the Celtics could beat the Heat without Rajon Rondo or Kevin Garnett, I am certain that most of you would say no. These are two fundamental players that drive this team and without them, it would be difficult to beat the best of the best. Yet, this past Monday, the Celtics came three points away of ending the Miami Heat’s historical...

LeBron: Dunking over Jason Terry made it even 'sweeter'

Miami Heat star LeBron James said the fact that is was Boston Celtics guard Jason Terry who he dunked over and knocked down "made it that much sweater."    James surprised

Celtics-Hornets Preview

After the short-handed Boston Celtics nearly knocked off the hottest team in the NBA, they hope to get a key piece back in time for the start of their road trip. The Celtics could have Kevin Garnett in the lineup when they take on the sinking New Orleans Hornets on Wednesday night. Garnett missed the last two contests while dealing with the flu and a strained abductor, but coach...

Kevin Garnett, D.J. White and Shavlik Randolph all on team flight to New Orleans (and what it means)

No picture of the three together, so this horrifying creation was the best I could do According to the Celtics official twitter, every C's player (besides Rondo and Sullinger of course) boarded the flight to N'awlins this afternoon. Kevin Garnett is on today's team flight to New Orleans, as are D.J. White and Shavlik Randolph. — Boston Celtics (@celtics) March 19...

Video: KG & Pierce discuss surpassing NBA all-time greats

Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce are now 15th and 20th on the all time NBA scoring list. Watching KG's video, the cold case of the missing magazine pictures from barber shops and convenience stores in South Carolina back in the 80's appears to have been solved as well.

Celtics Stung by Hornets at the Buzzer 87-86

Coming off a emotional game again the Miami Heat the Celtics moved on to a three game road trip starting in New Orleans against the Hornets. The Celtics got back their veteran center Kevin Garnett who returned from a leg injury and flu symptoms. The Hornet's Anthony Davis was also battling flu like symptoms but managed to play in the game and in the end was the difference maker...

Heat escape Boston with a 105-103 win; streak hits 23 despite career game from Jeff Green

Ugh. The Celtics, without Kevin Garnett (and Rondo, and Sullinger, and Barbosa..) had the Heat right where they wanted them. They were up 17 in the first half, and 13 with 8:27 to go in the 4th. But they couldn't close the door. Lebron James was too good, scoring 37 points to go with 12 assists and 7 boards for Miami. The Celtics were led by Jeff Green's career high 43 points...

Boston Celtics fumble away 13 point lead, lose to New Orleans Hornets 87-86

What a mess. After a strong first half the Celtics fell apart in the third quarter, getting outscored 22-12 and fumbling away a 10 point halftime lead. The Celtics were able to rally, but Anthony Davis scored off a tip-in with 0.3 seconds remaining and the Celtics weren’t able to get off a shot before the final buzzer sounded. Honestly that game was disgusting so lets try to get...

Jeff Green’s Breakout Game Should Give Celtics Confidence in Any Future Showdowns Against Heat (Podcast)

With no Kevin Garnett, with no Rajon Rondo, the Celtics still gave LeBron James and the Miami Heat just about all they could handle on Monday night. A big reason for that was, of course, Jeff Green. Green’s 43-point night wasn’t enough to snap Miami’s now 23-game win streak, but it should be more than enough to convince Boston that it has the right stuff to make some noise...

Boston Celtics Prove To Be Tough Opponent Against Miami Heat

Boston Celtics Stirring Effort Not Enough in Loss to Miami Heat   The Boston Celtics didn't deserve to lose on Monday night and they know it. Even the Miami Heat, a team celebrating their 23-game winning streak, knows they should have their heads down in defeat. Once again though it was turnovers that killed the Celtics off. They had an 18-point lead in the first quarter. They...

Celtics-Hornets Live: Jeff Green, Celts Head to Big Easy Looking to Get Back in Win Column

8 a.m. ET: Jeff Green probably will not score 43 points again, so we can safely put aside that possibility now.   The biggest question entering this game, then, is whether Kevin Garnett will play. The Big Ticket missed the last two games, including Monday’s two-point loss to the Heat, with a thigh injury and an illness. Garnett reportedly made the trip to New Orleans, so he should...
