Found October 23, 2012 on Celtics 24/7:
The Celtics have reached a deal with Leandro Barbosa for the league minimum. What kind of impact will the veteran guard have on his new team? Probably not a large one. Not to take anything away from Barbosa, but the Celtics are loaded at the guard positions heading into the season. Plus, Barbosa is a huge liability on defense and really the only thing he would be able to contribute is scoring. Back to Boston’s depth in the backcourt though. There are already plenty of options for Doc Rivers. Rajon Rondo is the obvious starter at the point, while Avery Bradley is working himself back to health and will be the primary backup once back at full strength. At the two, the Celtics brought in both Courtney Lee and Jason Terry. Lee will begin the season as the starter, with Terry coming off the bench to ignite the team, a role he fulfilled perfectly for the Dallas Mavericks. Basically, Barbosa could get minutes here and there, but only until Bradley returns. The team is hoping that Bradley will be good to go by mid-December, so there’s a chance Barbosa will get to show what he’s capable of for a couple months, perhaps paving the way for extra minutes down the road. Nonetheless, it’s always nice to add an experienced scorer for the league minimum, so Rivers has to be pleased with the deal. Management didn’t have to bend over backwards to bring him on board, and he’ll provide scoring and has also been praised for his team-first mentality. Barbosa aside, the Celtics are in for a great season. They’ll be making money with people’s NBA picks all year long, as they’ve re-tooled their roster nicely and now have an interesting mix of veteran talent and promising young players.

Your Morning Dump… Doc says Jason Terry is slow as

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. “It’s definitely a veteran thing. I learned from a great guy in George Gervin in our workouts in the summer. He tells me, ‘Slow is quick.’ And I had to really listen to what he said. It’s changing speeds...

Jason Terry, Christmas prank Celtics

Jason Terry is a gregarious fellow who found a kindred spirit in Dionte Christmas during the Temple alum's brief tenure with the Boston Celtics. Terry and Christmas faced off in many a 3-point shooting competition after practice, and one day they extended their fun off the court. While Christmas hid in an oversized box, Terry lured their victims into the vicinity...

Pranked, Jason Terry Style

Has there ever been a more fun Celtic than Jason Terry? I know we've had some guys who were funny and jokers like Delonte and Baby, but Jet outdoes them all. The NOC has been putting out some fun videos with Jet. There were the videos where he went out meeting fans and asking for autographs, and there was the one where he and Dionte Christmas took on the Roxbury girls'...

Boston Celtics new additions find favor with Doc Rivers

When the Boston Celtics first brought the "Big Three" together,( a moniker I believe belongs to Boston exclusively) KG affectionately coined the term "Ceatles" like the Beatles.  That term as well as "Ubuntu" was part of the impetus for banner 17. It is now five years later, and the "Ceatles" have changed a little bit under the hood. ...

Doc: Enough Talk

Doc Rivers is done fighting the battle of words with Ray Allen. Chris Forsberg reports that the Celtics coach said, "'We're going to just let Ray keep talking... It's easier'" when interviewed earlier today. Doc is focused on creating a game plan to take down Miami, and I'm sure he just wants to get the distractions out of the way. Ray recently made...

Your Morning Dump… Where Doc doesn’t think Ray’s got his facts straight

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Asked about the potential Phoenix deal, Rivers said on Wednesday, “I didn’t even know it, so I’m surprised right now. I never knew that. I don’t think that’s true.” When asked for a rebuttal on Wednesday...

A Few Interesting Notes from the GM Survey

Sully is the most likely to be a sleeper success.  As you might expect, the Heat and LeBron James got a lot of attention from the GM's in their annual survey. The Heat are picked to be the Eastern Conference Champs along with winning it all. 96.7% of GM's pick the Heat to emerge from the East with just 3.3% giving the Celtics a chance. 70% pick the Heat to win it all...

Boston Celtics Still Searching for Chemistry

Can these Celtics pass Doc Rivers' chemistry lesson? (AP There are six days remaining before the start of the regular season and the Boston Celtics are still searching for chemistry. WEEI's Green Street spoke to Jeff Green about Boston's roster:“We’ve got a lot of guys who can put up a lot of points on the board, and we’re very unselfish,” said Jeff Green. ...

Jeff Green impressed everyone during preseason

I’ve been holding off on a “Jeff Green is soooooooo much better than ever” article, largely because I didn’t want to overreact to a small preseason sample size when his four years in the NBA paint a different story. But it certainly does seem like Green feels more comfortable than ever, and his production was probably the single most positive takeaway from preseason. He averaged...

Pop left out of Olympic mix?

The next Summer Olympics are still a little less than four years away, but the decision on who will be coaching the next men’s basketball team will have to be made well before that. It seems like it’s already been narrowed down to three candidates, Celtics coach Doc Rivers, 76ers coach Doug Collins and the San Antonio Spurs’ Gregg Popovich. There’s no arguing that either...

Leandro Barbosa not worried about playing time, which is good since he might not get much

One of the good things about having a deep and talented roster: Any veteran willing to sign a minimum deal probably cares more about winning than playing time.Leandro Barbosa understands that when everybody’s healthy, he’s probably fifth in the Celtics guard rotation. For someone who has averaged double digit points in six of the past seven seasons (including 11.1 last year and...

Celtics May Need Time to Build Chemistry After Major Changes In Offseason

BOSTON -- Jokes, both G-rated and R-rated, flew around the home locker room at the TD Garden late Sunday night. The preseason was finished, which was such a relief that hardly a member of the Celtics even mentioned their loss to the Philadelphia 76ers to end the exhibition schedule. Spirits were high, regardless of the defeat. Wins and losses have no bearing...
