NBA TNT TV analyst Chris Webber is attempting to save the Sacramento Kings. The franchises co-owners, Gavin and Joe Maloof met with the NBA's board of governors this week make their case to move the team to Anaheim.
The Kings have been unable to build a new arena in Sacramento with public funding.
Webber said this week, "I wouldn’t be myself if it wasn’t for Sacramento. I didn’t want to go there. I tried to run away from there, but they still accepted me. I can’t imagine what Sacramento would be like without basketball, or what basketball would be like without Sacramento.”
“I won’t have a basketball home if Sacramento doesn’t have a team. I have a friend [former Seattle Supersonics guard] Gary Payton [and] he doesn’t have his jersey hanging in any arena [because] there’s no team in Seattle. I don’t want the same thing, selfishly for myself, but also for the people in Sacrament...
