Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul recently said that he would take time to consider his future with the team. The pending free agent is apparently sending mixed signals, but the Clippers' vice president of basketball operations -- Gary Sacks -- said yesterday that he's "very confident" that the All-Star will re-sign with the team this offseason, according to Arash Markazi of ESPN Los Angeles.Sacks met with Paul on Saturday, following the team's first-round playoff loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. While he wasn't willing to share details of the meeting, Sacks did say he's confident Paul will return."A lot of that information we'll keep private, because that's an internal thing, but I feel very confident," Sacks said. "I think he's an integral part of this. We feel like we had a great partnership for the last couple of years and we want to continue it obviously. These are decisions that have to be made and some of them will be taken care of at the appropriate time. We can't talk to him until July 1, so we'll go ahead and do that. We'll move forward when it's appropriate."Paul is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, and he won't be able to sign an extension with the Clippers until July 1. As that date approaches, rumors figure to swirl around the All-Star point guard. While Paul turned down a three-year, $60 million extension with the Clippers last summer, he'll have an opportunity to earn a deal worth $108 million over five years this offseason. Sacks said that Paul is the team's No. 1 priority. Time will tell if they're able to lock him up, or if he'll be playing elsewhere next season.Follow @hoopsinjurynews
