PLAYERS: Rajon Rondo
TEAMS: Boston Celtics

I came across this picture and thought it was too great not to put up. That is our own Rajon Rondo doing a major dunk back when he was at UK. This kid has some serious hops. With Rondo's passing and ball handling usually taking center stage, we don't really think of him as a high flyer like we do say,  Russell Westbook. But, this photo proves that he can get up there.   Those huge hands don't hurt for gripping the ball for dunking either.  I have a feeling that whatever this kid puts his mind to, he could do, and do very well.  I'm not expecting him in the dunk contest any time soon, though.  I'll settle for another appearance in the Skills Challenge, and, of course, the All Star Game.

Rondo is Back to Work

On his facebook page, Rajon Rondo has posted this video with the title Back to Work. Yesterday I posted a photo of Rondo doing a dunk over someone seated in a chair and marvelled at his hops. The video from Rondo's facebook shows his amazing athleticism even more. While working out, Rondo stood in front of a very high plyometric box that looks to be about shoulder height. ...

Rajon Rondo shows off impressive leaping skills

Boston Celtics guard Rajon Rondo pulled off an impressive feat in the team gym during a recent summer workout that has to be seen to be believed, as he took one step and leaped on top of a 4-foot-tall plyometric box. We're estimating the height of the box given that Rondo is 6-foot-1 and the box comes up to the middle of his chest. There doesn't appear to be any trickery...

QuickVid: Rajon Rondo does his best Michael Jackson impersonation

I’ve been noted for being silly about Rondo’s choice of clothes. I’ve even compared him to Michael Jackson in his funky zebra coat. On Thursday, the Celtics released a video of Rajon vaulting himself onto what looks like an equipment locker. Besides showing off his freaky athletics and bulked up body, the Celtics star point [...]

Video: Rondo shows off his vertical

Rajon Rondo posted the above video on his facebook page yesterday, simply saying "Back to work." Not sure when the video was taken, but I do see former Celtic E'Twaun Moore in it, so if it was recent that would be a little odd. Nothing against former teammates working out, but judging by the huge Celtics logo, I'm assuming they were working out in Boston. Rondo...

Rajon Rondo Shows Off Athleticism, Hops During Summer Workout at Celtics' Gym (Video)

Rajon Rondo isn't exactly known for throwing down monstrous dunks, but that doesn't mean the Celtics point guard can't get up there. In a video posted on the team's Facebook page, Rondo shows off his hops by leaping onto some random object. Not sure what the object is exactly -- maybe mats? -- but it's a pretty impressive leap, nonetheless. The best part of it...

Boston Celtics’ Rajon Rondo to assist President Obama

NBA royalty will be saluting President Obama as he is salivating at the millions of dollars that will be raised for his campaign. According to the Silicon Valley’s Mercury News, his Air-ness Michael Jordan and  David Stern will host a super-star studded affair to raise money for the Obama re-election campaign. Among the guests are [...]

Video: Rondo scoffs at the law of gravity

Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound it's... Rajon Rondo? Yeah, you heard me right. If you thought I was going to mention Superman, you'd be wrong. Rondo hasn't really been know for crazy hops. You usually see him hit the paint and throw up a floater, lay up or pull up for a mid-range shot. However, he has dunked on Chris Bosh but then again, who hasn...

In Case You Forgot, Rajon Rondo Is Crazy Athletic

One of the first times I ever saw Rajon Rondo play was in a preseason game against the New York Knicks.  This was in 2006, his rookie season, which was obviously before he’d established himself as one of the more unique playmakers in the NBA.  Knowing little about college basketball, I had no real impression of Rondo.  I’d heard he was an athlete, and I knew he’d been sent...

Catching Up With a Few Celtics

Yesterday, I posted a photo of Rondo and KG partying with Snoop Doggy Lion or whatever his name is. Today we have updates on a few more Celtics and what they are up to in this offseason. Avery Bradley has been rehabbing his two surgically repaired shoulders, but he has also been out giving back to the community. First up is a video of Avery joining with Cedric Maxwell in visiting...

Pierce, Rondo to ball for the Obama campaign

Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo are teaming up with Michael Jordan to help President Obama raise some campaign cash: The Hall of Famer will headline a celebrity basketball game on Aug. 22 in New York that will double as a fund-raiser for President Obama, the Obama campaign said Tuesday. Other high-profile participants in the Obama Classic will include Rajon Rondo and Paul Pierce of...

Happy Birthday to the Houdini of the Hardwood

When thinking about how special Rajon Rondo is, we can't forget another Celtics point guard who was very special also. Robert Joseph Cousy turns 84 today. Just as Bill Russell revolutionized the way the NBA played the game with his defense, Bob Cousy revolutionized the way the NBA played the game with his ball handling. Cousy is one of the most loved and revered Celtics of...

Kevin Garnett, Rajon Rondo & Snoop Dogg flick up at OVO Fest 2012

OVO Fest 2012 took place last weekend in Toronto. It’s the third year that rapper, Drake has put the event on. Taking in the festivities were Boston Celtics Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo. They even flicked it up with Snoop Dogg – yup, I know he’s changed his name to “Snoop Lion”  for an alleged [...]
