According to the Sacramento Bee, Sam Dalembert isn’t happy playing second fiddle to DeMarcus Cousins and Jason Thompson and while he’s yet to officially request a trade, it looks like a possibility in the near future.

Dalembert’s agent Marc Cornstein met with the Kings organization to discuss Sammy’s floundering role with the squad and while nothing major came out of the meeting, at least publicly, Cornstein made it pretty clear that Dalembert is extremely frustrated and wants a bigger role.

Personally, it’s hard not to agree with Sam. He’s more or less at/getting to the pinnacle of his career and is playing limited minutes on one of the worst teams in the league. Add in the fact that it’s clear he’s behind DeMarcus Cousins and even Jason Thompson on the importance factor, it’s only human nature to want something more. One would hope that Dalembert would swallow his pride and not make an issue of it being he’s only signed through this season and was already a candidate to be traded, rather than making a mild stink about it – but it is what it is. He’s most certainly a nice insurance piece to have around this year as Cousins continues to learn the game and makes attempts to stay out of foul trouble. But at the end of the day, you’d have to think Dalembert has a pretty good chance of being in a new uniform by February, with or without the request.
