NBA teams have to shave their rosters down to 15 men in anticipation of the start of the season.  The Dallas Mavericks, as part of this roster cut, have released Delonte West.  West was not injured, but he was not someone the team felt they needed to have.  In fact, his recent suspension all but ensured the guard would not be with the team when the season opens in Los Angeles. According to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski, the team was unable to work out a contract buyout. They waived him instead, but he will surely find a home at some point this season. After the Dallas Mavericks were unable to work a contract buyout with Delonte West, the team has waived him.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) October 29, 2012West was suspended for a second time this month of conduct detrimental to the team.  West will now have to wait for a team with a need to come calling.  This could happen if a team loses a key guard to injury with no viable replacement.West ha been in the league for eight seasons now.  He was drafted by the Boston Celtics in 2004, but he has now played for four different teams - and he went back to Boston for a second stint during the 2010-11 season.  In his career, West has averaged 9.7 points per game, 3.6 assists per game, and 2.9 rebounds per game.  He may not be a front line player, but he could help some team off the bench.  But first, he will have to fall in line with the rules.
