Pass The Pill:
The Portland Trail Blazers outstanding rookie (of the year), Damian Lillard, is offering his services to assist Portland in recruiting players to come play for the Trail Blazers. Lillard will look to attract the attention of free agent players that can help the Blazers take that next step.
“It depends on what our team is going to need, but if I like a player that is on the market and I know he has interest, of course I’m going to reach out to them,” Lillard said. “I’m going to do what I can to help the team get better.”
Lillard has already won the NBA Skills competition, averaged an amazing 19.1 ppg, 6.5 apg and 3.1 rpg during his rookie campaign, and is expect to take Rookie Of The Year honors as well. Not bad for his first season. It’s clear that this kid has a bright future in this point guard driven league. Star players don’t always hit the recruiting trail, but Lillard seems motivated to help this team in any way he can, and helping bring in players that fit the Blazers’ roster is the best way to help drive his game to the next level.
Moves like this show a young man’s maturity and overall will to win, and play for a team that reflects his own talent. Any soon-to-be free agents who watched Lillard’s rookie season will be more than glad to sing-on for the ride, because one thing that remains clear, is that this kid has something extra special.
“I just think Portland is a great place,”Lillard said.“The people here are great. If they want to play in a city where they know the crowd is going to be there whether you’re having a bad season or good season, losing streak or winning streak, our fans give you something to play for.
“They are there every game supporting us and it’s inspiring when you are out there on the floor. When the game seems out of reach, they’re constantly cheering. People aren’t getting up leaving their seats and it’s like that every single game.”
Lillard has done and said all of the right things so far, and his play has been more than many expected. Convincing solid players to join him in Portland should be a lot easier now that the world has seen what this kid is capable of on the court.

This is the part of the NBA season when casual fans ask themselves if it's worth it.
Your team stinks, the effort looks weak, and you start hearing about players' vacation plans.
Blazer fans open the paper to find J.J. Hickson trade talk.
You feel cheated, deceived, and look for reasons to turn away from basketball.
Even D-Wade and the King are sitting it...
Portland Trailblazer’s rookie guard, Will Barton, has taken full advantage of his valuable playing time in the last few games because of injuries to Wes Mathews and Nick Batum. Much to the Portland fans delight, they were able to see some athleticism Friday night from Will, as he introduced himself to Oklahoma City Thunder, defensive wizard, Thabo Sefolosha, in front of...
Portland Trail Blazers’ rookie Will Barton took it to the rack and threw down a monster two-hander on Thunder guard Thabo Sefolosha during the second quarter of Friday night’s game:
When you outscore your opponents 18-3, chances are you'll win a seven game series in 4. The Portland Winterhawks did just that, setting and breaking yet more team and WHL records along the way. Now, they wait for just over a week before they play their first game for the Western Conference Championship. They will play the Kamloops Blazers who, similar to the Hawks, won their...

A visit from the Oklahoma City Thunder might not present the ideal opportunity for the Portland Trail Blazers to avoid setting a club record for consecutive home losses.
Mired in a nine-game overall skid, the Trail Blazers look to avoid a seventh straight home defeat and a season sweep at the hands of the Western Conference-leading Thunder on Friday night.
If missing the playoffs...
