In light of an NBA lockout where not only are the players not earning their usual paychecks, but also all of the employees at all levels of NBA basketball operations are no longer receiving their usual income. This off-season, a number of players have demonstrated that they do have the capabilities to reach out and help others.

Indiana Pacer’s dynamic forward Danny Granger is one of those guys.  Considering the average NBA star can afford to miss a couple paychecks, the employees for these teams and their arenas most likely cannot.  That is why Granger has invited every employee of Conseco Fieldhouse to dinner on him.  This touching gesture is an example of how NBA stars have the ability to reach out to others in times of need.  Although players like Luke Walton and Kobe Bryant have given the Staples Center employees actual cash gifts, Granger’s act serves several purposes.  Not only does it give these men and women an opportunity to dine for free and meet with their team’s brightest star, but it also reminds the press, owners, and NBA players that there are so many deserving individuals who are being negatively affected by this lockout.  Media outlets will hopefully use this story to evoke sentiment for all the lower class workers who need their paychecks from NBA owners to survive.

Danny Granger proves to be a star both on the court and off the court.  His hard work has earned him much respect and recognition as one of the best young guys in the NBA.  He will continue to improve and hopefully will continue helping those less fortunate in light of this horrible NBA lockout.
