David Stern announced his retirement recently, but that won’t spare him the blame for his latest mishap before the Celtics/Heat game.
He talked briefly before the Miami Heat received their championship rings, and decided to send his thoughts and prayers to the Hurricane victims along the East coast. It was a nice thought, if he had done it right. He did the unthinkable: instead of saying Hurricane Sandy, he said Hurricane Katrina. Yes, the Hurricane Katrina that swept through New Orleans last season.
Yup, that’s the commissioner we know and love! Seriously though, this is an awful mistake. An honest one nonetheless, but one that you have to make sure you don’t mess up, given the sensitivity of the topic.
