For a team that has said to have a new found emphasis on the defensive end of the court, the Suns sure didn’t show that in their 127-110 loss to the Denver Nuggets in their preseason opener on Tuesday night. Phoenix’s defense didn’t prevent the Nuggets from doing much of anything. Denver shot just under 53 percent from the field and had three quarters where they scored at least 30 points. In the second quarter, they managed to put a not too shabby 29 points on the scoreboard in 12 minutes. Every single Denver player, expect for rookie Jordan Hamilton scored. Five of those players scored in double figures. Ty Lawson led all scorers in the game with 21 points. The Nuggets starting point guard also had seven rebounds and dished out a pair of assists. Danilo Gallinari was next up with 15 points, rookie Kenneth Faried had 14, Al Harrington had 12 and Nene chipped in with 10. For as bad as they were on the defensive end, Suns fans can be happy with how well they played o...

Morris ready to make an impact for Suns

PHOENIX -- It's been quite some time since a rookie made much of an impact for the Phoenix Suns. Not since Amare Stoudemire in 2002 has a lottery draft pick stuck with the Suns and played significant minutes right away. But the Suns' first-round pick in the 2011 draft, power forward Markieff Morris, believes he can be different and isn't interested in waiting around...

ESPN’s Chad Ford Ranks Phoenix Suns Offseason As One of Worst

In a condensed offseason from the lockout, the Suns were pretty much quiet making moves. They bought out Vince Carter’s contract, brought back Grant Hill, locked up rookie Markieff Morris and signed short-term deals with Shannon Brown, Sebastian Telfair and Ronnie Price. ESPN’s Chad Ford, who has been a heavy critic of Phoenix in recent years, voiced his displeasure over...

Alvin Gentry says Spurs can't beat Suns offensively

The Phoenix Suns. Year after year San Antonio Spurs served up the Suns heartache in the playoffs with hard-nosed defense and not to mention a little luck.It was that tough defense that stymied the Suns' offensive prowess time-after-time in the playoffs and it just seemed the Suns never learned that defense wins out over offense. And it seems the Suns still haven't learned...

Marcin Gortat to Play Through Broken Thumb

Tuesday night was not a good night for the Suns. Gortat revealed his injury in a tweet right after the game. #bbpBox_149356614313455617...

The Game Plan For The Phoenix Suns: Go Big Or Go Home

Three years after Mike D’Antoni left Phoenix for New York, his run-and-gun style still influences Phoenix’s style under Alvin Gentry. And with two-time MVP Steve Nash still running the point, it’s easy to think of the Suns as a guard’s playground. But as the Suns open their preseason tonight against Denver ahead of Monday’s season [...]

Gortat Intends To Play With Broken Thumb

Marcin Gortat intends to play with a broken thumb, an injury that typically takes two to three weeks to heal.

2011-12 Phoenix Suns Preview

The real big change was losing star power forward Amare Stoudemire to the bright lights of the big city in New York. Without the All-Star, coach Alvin Gentry cobbled together a solid, albeit far less spectacular offensive club but fell off badly at the defensive end.

Marcin Gortat tweets he has a broken thumb, it helps his shot

The Phoenix Suns lost their exhibition opener to the Denver Nuggets, which was relatively uneventful… until Suns center Marcin Gortat sent out a couple of tweets postgame. Great start!!!
