The set-up was simple: an elimination game for the Nuggets in their house and Kobe Bryant has a stomach virus. A bad stomach virus to be completely forthcoming, the kind of virus that requires all kinds of things just to get out of bed, let alone play a game of basketball. IV fluids, special Gatorade, extra time in the locker room; the average player would have sat out. Yet the great ones still find a way to perform.
If the setup sounds eerily familiar, it's because Michael Jordan did it almost a decade ago against the Utah Jazz. You remember the image, right?
