We saw Deron Williams call out his teammates for not battling and fighting through adversity during a miserable losing season. This is exactly what you want to see out of your star player; inspiring his teammates, and setting an example of toughness. Well, he’s not stopping there.
It’s only the preseason, but Deron Williams isn’t going to go off quietly if he’s insulted. Just ask A.J. Price.
In a game last night against the Wizards, things got a little heated between the star point guard and the lesser known backup A.J. Price. The two got into a shoving match following a flagrant foul by Price on Deron Williams. Via ESPN:
“I hate when people just start talking for no reason,” Williams said. “That’s pretty much what he did.
“Maybe he had some boys in the crowd he wanted to impress while he can with the little minutes he’s going to get this year.
“‘It’s my home now.’ I told him that.”
This is pretty much what you want out of your best player. Even in a preseason game. Even if it’s just the Wizards.
We’ll see if the rest of the Brooklyn Nets pick up on the edge that D-Will has been showing so far. They’re going to need it if they have championship aspirations.
